Java Creator: Huge Security Hole in .Net

SYDNEY, Australia ? James Gosling, developer of the Java programming language, said this week that Microsoft?s .NET development platform suffers from ?a security hole big enough to drive many, many large trucks through.? Full Story...

I just don't understand one thing however... Yes, C/C++ code could be extremely unsafe under .NET's CLR, but why don't use C# which was especially developed for .NET and has no security problems like C or C++?.. In other words, there is a "Huge Security Hole" but in .NET C/C++ only, but not in .NET technology itself IMHO...

Possibly people share the opinion that both of them suck.

Java was a nice concept but completely sucks in implementation, way too slow and cumbersome, and the I dont think anyone is really going to be trusting anything that Microsoft releases anytime soon as being secure.

Just wait till MacroMedia takes over and has flash doing everything that these two are offering.

good question. maybe if you had some realy big company systems build with com or com+ intergration. then perhabs they also have to be remade to accept .NET calls. maybe ?

The guy quoted in that article is just a language geek. His statement was absurd.

What he is *really* saying is "Pointers are bad"... The hole you could drive several large trucks through has absolutely nothing to do with .NET, he is calling any language that allows pointers and casting weak.

Makes perfect sense for a java geek, but it is a lame argument.

Oh yeah, and I'm a linux geek, but C# is the best thing MSFT has put out in a long time.

A nice concept? I mean, I'm with ya.. I can't stand Java. It is far and away the most popular language in existance today though Flash is cute, but you aren't going to see any serverside applications use it anytime soon.
