PC Gamers -- what's the best of the best?
...and why? Describe your ultimate fav comp. game(s) and cover why they're so great.
I've been playing Fallout for a while, very addictive game (Fallout was RPG of the year for 98). Anyone here played it? The game is set in what's left of California 80 years after a nuclear war, sort of a "road warrior" theme to it, You are with a group of people living underground in a protected vault, and they must send you out for a new "water chip", without it your vault will run out of drinking water soon. You have 180 days to find the chip, so out you go armed with a knife and a pistol, to find out what has become of the world. It's an incredible game really, and takes forever to gather enough equipment and information to complete everthing needed to win. you run up against raiders, and in your quest to gather needed supplies and weapones you might seek work in some towns, you'll be offered jobs to kill people for big bucks, steal things for others etc, and you find out about a mutant army threatening all remaining humans. Every town and settlment you run across is different in lots of ways, and the sub-plots are very involving. It's been a year now and I'm just finding the last of the games hard-to-find secrets! Anyway, I know little about what other games are good, let me know the one's that have YOUR family nagging at you (because you're spending way too much time with it). ___________ CD * Sunset Beach Party: Centerfolds ~ Amateurs ~ Teens, new trades welcome. ![]() |

1. Civ II--It ruined my summer and damaged my vision from playing it 4 hours a day on my laptop.
2. MechWarrior III--Astounding on-line play and graphics. Running it on a 1.2GhZ with a Gforce3 card. You don't get hardly any lag on-line even with a 56k conection, and the arena will let 16 play at a time. Very nice. [This message has been edited by Squishy (edited 12-17-2001).] |

Rat -- let me know how that wolfenstien game is, it sounds interesting.
Diablo sounds very interesting too. As far as everquest goes, I looked at their site, and it says you have: buy the game, then use the game you buy to log on to the server to actually play, and what...they charge you an ongoing fee to play? I'll need more information about everquest, but their site makes the game look mighty tempting. Waste -- What is "UT"? I don't know a whole lot about games really. I've flipped through a few PC Gamer mags over the last few years, but I only recognize certain titles. Carmageddon for example, rings a bell. It looked like a really cool game for running down people and cows and shit. Max Payne looks like it made a big impact on the gaming world. What's it about? Squishy -- what is civ 11? Kat -- We should talk about Fallout, I just discovered some things that after a whole year of playing... I had no idea they were there. I just ordered fallout 2 and also tactics, the demo for tactics is awesome-looking. Anyone played "Wing Commander" or "Baldur's Gate" before? Both of those look to be hugely popular. I'm definitely in the market for some more games, but when I see the list of titles I get totally confused as to what to get. |

As much as I love the frst person shooters, the game I keep going back and playing over and over is an old DOS game called "Battle For Atlantis" it's a simplistic version of "Risk" but for some reason is just as addictive as the latest 3D shoot 'em ups and sims (I have a weakness for sim games too)....

Return to wolfenstein kicks ass...played it all weekend...reminded me of unreal 1 when that first came out
Rogue spear is a great game as well, except for the levels where you have to be sneaky, infiltrate buildings and cant kill anything I would also recomend Hit Man, that was one great game, took 3 months to beat it. kind of like Max Payne, but a much longer version without the Matrix moves |

Dude, if you wanna waste your life away, buy Everquest, ha ha ha.
If you wanna kill people, pick up "Return To Castle Wolfenstein" or "Unreal Tournament". The biggest thing is to make sure that you have a decent video card. If you have one of those and a killer sound system, you'll be kicking some ass. Hell, "Return To Castle Wolfenstein" has to be one of the most beautiful games that I've seen graphically. You'll get a boner playing that game, ha ha ha. |

Max Payne has bullet-time like in the Matrix and is really good. Its about this guy who is running from the cops and trying to find the guys who killed his kid and wife. Nice "realistic" guns and shit. 9/10 I love Soldier of Fortune! It has great realisim, nice grafix, sound and good levels. I recommend it! 10/10! Also Moto Racer 3 (which isnt out yet) SUX! Its like 700+MBs and really shit. If you like motorcycle games go get something else My 2 cents... |

Slick -- I was hoping you'd stop by here, you're a true hardcore gamer if there ever was one. So tell me, what exactly IS it about everquest that is so appealing that I should buy it? How does it work to play it? What's your impressions of what makes the game fun?
I can see that 2002 is gonna fly right by for me, with all these new games I'm going to be lost in. I hear you can wander around in the everquest world for months and still not see even close to all of it. |

Some surprising names in the credits of Fallout for character voices --
Richard Dean Anderson Brad Garret Richard Moll ("Bull" from Nighcourt) Cree Summer I'd have to go look at the credits again, and the credits for this game are a few miles long. You get an idea of how big these games are when you view the credits though, amazing. Looks like over 500 people are employed on some games. |
