okay, I have to ask . . . .has this bike ever been started before?
That is the sales tag on the tire, right?

Ok I don't know much about bikes but that pic has me curious. What is the "extra" belt for?

The extra? There are two.

The front one (primary) is what causes the engine to turn the transmission.

The rear one (drive) causes the transmission to turn the rear wheel

I didn't realize there were always 2. I knew there was one from the motor to the back wheel but I didn't know the other one was there. I am bike stupid lol.

Now THAT'S a cool fucking bike!

Would fit right in to the half-retro/half-futuristic feel of an early James Bond movie -- like GoldFinger.

Thanks, Jules!

Well, when they first started they used leather belts, then they went to chains. You probably never noticed because they are usually enclosed under the primary cover.

without primary cover

with primary cover

and even these are usually enclosed by some fancy covering, not always though! You have to be a real experienced rider to ride one of those. You can get your foot cut off in quick order if you are not careful

Willing to bet more fingers than toes have been lost due to exposed primaries

It is a neat bike , I love Nortons, as well as most other types I went to the show to kick some tires ,most of the deals were sold early in the morning. But some really neat examples of Vintage bikes (NOT) for sale. Exept the Harley Cafe racer , which for supposedly 3500 miles wasnt in that cond
