question to paysite owners

Just interesting how much bandwidth in average your subscribers consume? I would like to start my first paysite so this question is very important for me.

depends on the type....heavy movie's & clips? Lots of big pics?

It all depends...but lets say you had a memebership site with 500 members..just take 500 members & (x) it by the megs u got uploaded to your site.

So if its 500 members x 100megs then...

Then you gotta factor in your join page & tour traffic...

If you have webmasters sending traffic...they may be using tgp traffic & send you 200,000 hits & tear up your b/w.

IT ALL DEPENDS! BE MORE SPECIFIC!

I would plan for at least 3-4 gigs a day (not including tgp galleries). I am also assuming that your vids are plugins and don't count towards your bandwidth

Once your membership gets up there, you can expect to multiply that.

I say go ahead and launch the paysite. Your tour areas and graphics will likely consume more bandwidth then all of your members area traffic. If you're setting up a paysite without an affiliate program and can successfully traffic it your margins will likely be huge. Bandwidth is cheap, very cheap.

Surfer joins for $30 bucks...
Let's say 20% for processing... $6
minus marketing <?>
minus bandwidth bill for your free areas <?>

Even if you only net $10 on the poor bastard after those other expenses (highly unlikely) the chances that he downloads 3-5 gigs/mo is nil... on average.

Brad
