So who here has moved or is thinking of moving to Mexico to live like a King?

I always hear how cheap it is to move to Mexico or Costa Rica or one of those places to retire cause you can live like a king on very little money. So has anyone relocated to take advantage of this from here?
I thought I had seen this discussed on here but don't remember if anyone was living the good life on the beach somewhere.

I am thinking about selling my house and giving it a shot so any pros & cons would be greatly appreciated.

I thought about Panama also. Not sure exactly where yet but I have a friend with family in Costa Rica and he is thinking of relocating there and still doing all the same business online just alot cheaper to live.
I'm in Vegas and with the price that houses shot up I could probably sell in a year or so and have a nice chunk of money to buy some beach front property and run my sites from there
I just figured if there was some major flaws with doing that then I would start getting blasted in here for sure for being an idiot. I found some great prices on houses and property away from the major tourist cities so I just need to make sure there are no really unsafe places to live and I might have to start planning this more seriously.

The only huge downside, is if your business goes to crap. You are selling bananas at the side of the road. At least in the US you can always do whatever until you are back running and make good money.

Plan on getting bodyguards if you have money. The in thing down there is to kidnap wealthy americans and hold them hostage for ransom.

A friend of mine move to Acapulco and eventually came back to the US after a year down there. Its a whole different lifestyle and after a while I think most people will miss the conveniences and security of the US.

costa rica is great, but 7 months a year it is so humid your hair doesn't dry. the laws and schools are good too and the people are atypical for south of the border. Hospitable and friendly, bank laws are what makes it really great. less kidnapping etc. Oh yeah great surf and the water i82-92 degrees year round. Bad things, shitty internet unless you are right in san jose and a few other places, huge fuckin bugs, poisonous snakes, alodyles called cayman can eat you, shark water, montezuma's revenge and english is broken. I thought about it and i have been there abunch of times but not sure i can do it. the law i think is still the same you can't own beach property, in mex you can now. Am thinkin of maybe doin like 30 miles south of the border that way, the us is only a little bit away.

i head that, like bell bottoms, kidnapping wealthy americans is only a fad and will not be cool 5 years from now. Experts fear that it will make a comeback in 15 or so years

At least twice a year you will be kidnapped and kept prisoner by a hurricane.

Good idea We did that already and love it! But to tell you the truth, it's not cheaper to live here. Especially if your home is on the beach.

I talked to a canadian who did this and he mentioned he needed a Mexican national as a partner. His wife was who he used.

Depends on:

where you're coming from
and
what part of Canada you're going to.

Here in Winnipeg the cost of living is quite low, but if you're moving here from some country where you can live comfortably on $5 a day then no, it's not.

Is this different that the old trust method? I have relatives that are mexican citizens. Would putting it in a corporation be better than having them buy it?

No, as mexican citizens, they have more rights than someone who isn't a mexican but owns a corporation here. And rights mean alot here in Mexico
