I agree with your assesment, it was definitly discussed and was part of the equation but was not the primary reason for settling.

Well, they had done that to their kids before, making them lie about a beating the Mom supposedly had from a retail store security guard. I think this family has rasied their kids to do whatever it takes. I'm sure that they have told their kids that if they are good enough liars this time, they will get far more $$ than they did the last time they all lied and sued someone.
