Before you buy a Blackberry or Treo, check out this phone

I've been holding out to buy a Blackberry because I've always felt they look more like a PDA than a cellphone. I have always said I'd buy one when they release a device the size of a small cellphone. Well I finally found that device but it's not a Blackberry or Treo.

My new Audiovox 5600 is the smallest device in the world that runs Windows Mobile. I've had it for a few days now and I can't find anything I don't like about it. It has real-time email, web browsing and MSN/ICQ just like the other devices, but it is at least 25% smaller. Despite the small size it has a HUGE display. And because it runs Windows there are a lot of add-on applications that you can install.

The coolest part is the familiar applications like Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player (which plays videos and MP3s). I downloaded a free ICQ/MSN/Yahoo chat client so I'm always connected. And of course Solitaire is included just like every other version of Windows.

I'd never even heard of this device when I started looking for a new phone. What sold me was that it does everything the Treo/Blackberry do, but it's a lot smaller, and it runs Windows.

The only thing lacking is a full-sized keyboard so if you must have that, get the Blackberry or Treo. Otherwise I seriously suggest checking this one out before you buy your next cellphone.

B
P.S. I'm not looking to get into a war with Blackberry or Treo users who love their cellphones!

Looks decent, and I like how it's smaller, but I wouldn't buy an audiovox product personally. Out of those three, I'd probably go with the treo which is pretty damn small itself. But right now I'll stick with my Razr V3.

I love my Windows Mobile smartphone and have been looking for a new one.

The Motorola is a bit pricey and this looks like a nice alternative.

I love having my AIM/ICQ/Yahoo with my on the go.

The Treo and Razr are definitely the "bling" devices to have, but I researched them all thoroughly and the Audiovox beats them both IMO. It's smaller than the Treo and more powerful than the Razr.

The best thing about my mobile is the On/off button. I close it and let the desk pick it up... no stress and no waste of time

I'm not here to start a battle....but what you have is not "real-time e-mail". Real time e-mail is "push-mail" which is only currently available on RIM products.

What you have is "pull mail" your phone polls for e-mails in the same way Microsoft Outlook does every couple of minutes or hours.

The Blackberry is the only true instant, real-time e-mail device available.

Nice phone regardless.

nice toys those Blackberrys etc... But I get enough email on my computer as it is.
My cell phone takes incoming calls which is annoying enough.

I have an HP6315. ((Most recent full size HP PocketPC phone)
I used it to replace an earlier version of PocketPC phone and a dell X5

I've never been big on the whole size thing. As long as it fits in my pocket, I'd rather have a big usable screen. And I LOVE Bluetooth (As well as the auto switching 802.11)

What's your resolution/size on that audiovox, and processor speed.
Is it touch screen? Did you sacrifice for the smaller screen do you think?

These guys with Ipods always made me laugh. The PocketPC has had an MP3 player, and video player all the way back to my Casio running CE.

Any you guys working in PocketPC size porn?
I own a bunch of Prime names in the field, and have never done anything with them.
I REALLY need to get around to it.

Here are some of them:
POCKETADULT.COM
POCKETADULT.NET
POCKETADULT.ORG
POCKETHUSTLER.COM
POCKETPC.TV
POCKETPCDV.COM
POCKETPCDVD.COM
POCKETPCPLAYBOY.COM
POCKETPCX.COM
POCKETPENTHOUSE.COM

Any suggestions?
Oh, and be sure to read the August edition of AVNOnline Magazine (Print) there will be a cool tech article in it about these devices.

Size matters to me. Even the Razr looks big to me because it's so wide, although I love the huge screen.

I can't find the processor specs but it runs very smoothly. The screen is 176x220 which is to me is huge since I'm used to a relatively tiny cellphone screen, and it's not touchscreen thank goodness. I haven't tried the Bluetooth yet.

Microsoft says they are releasing a server-push enhancement for Exchange Server (which I use) so soon Blackberry won't be the only push-email device out there.

My favorite new thing is uploading my own MP3 ringtones via USB.
