Fact : This industry needs regulations AND a kick in the ass to follow them .
I'm sorry if this thread don't really come out like I want to say it, english isn't my first language but I'l try to pay more attention to my writing in this one because it's gonna be quite long.
I'm NOT saying 2257 is good and that censorship is good. This thread will probably piss a lot of people up ... I'l probably end up getting bashed but I'l post it anyways. I think the ONLY two reasons (I see) right now this industry is still that big after all we have done to surfers and with the business model we got is because : A) The laws on the internet are YEARS behind and are really hard to enforce internationally B) Human nature needs sexuality . Lots of people are having problems to get laid, have problems getting off without a specific "fetish" and stuff like that. Without people NEEDING our product bad, we wouldn't be in business . I personally think tgps were great for the industry. It made it literally blow up to a level where a good part of the internet bandwith is consumed by porn customer. BUT, I think the whole industry could be much more profitable if it stoped shooting itself in the foot like we are doing right now. I don't know if you guys ever thought about this : 1 . We are distributing FREE pornography to childrens . TONS of it . And all kinds . People saying everybody should have a filter ... I would put one for my kids, but you know damn right not everybody is a responsible parent . That's why the governement is there to regulate stuff . Same goes with adults too. 2. We fucked tons of surfers with credit card scams, adware/spyware/dialers for hundread millions of dollars. 3. The convertions have slowly been down, the level of content a user can get for free is slowly going up . Can anybody name another industry where thoses business manners would be "almost acceptable" ? I KNOW there is BIG money to be done with tgps still ... but how much more would be made if we removed ALL the free hardcore content from the web tomorrow ? I personally think that, if used correctly, .xxx could be very profitable on the long run for this industry . But hey, we pissed a TONS of people off over the years, so maybe we will get some of that hate back and we will get censored to death . I think it can have a positive side that the business is beeing regulated . Small people running sites from their parent's houses will have more problems, but people that are really in it for the money, and that are well organised, will have less degrading competition .

we, we, we? I didn't scam people out of their money, I didn't install spyware, mallware or dialers (not without the surfers perission on the dialer). Most webmasters never done any of those but yet they all have to do alot of extra work for nothing now. (altough I agree with someone in the other post that said "try to run a mainstream business")
And this to stop cp? Yeah right! most of that shit is hosted, runned and shot in russia. .XXX will stop children from looking at porn? Yeah right, it will just make it easier to find. And face it 90% of the children know more about computers than their parents so how are those parents going to block/filter out the adult content just because it's on .xxx? just my 2cents edit: my parents used to hide their magazines at the most weird places and yet I always found them ;) |

I don't disagree that this business could use a more clearly defined set of rules, but censorship and a country governed by religious fanatics forcing people to hand out the home addresses of models is far from the answer. ![]() |

I think that the US governement is smart enough to know that these regulations will not really change a thing (for every us webmaster that complies 5 other non us webmasters will rise).
Only thing that changes is that they can go after models and companies that didn't pay taxes on their moddeling-jobs. (which is 99% it believe) |

OK, as much as I wan to believe that things can take a turn to the better, I don't think they will, at least not soon and not entirely.
Dre, you know when we started TGP2 and you later jumped on the bandwagon and started taking TGP2 submissions to schoolporn. TGP2 had a lot of inside bickering and as a movement it was never homogenous. This part it had in common with every other way of driving traffic. Simple, different people have different needs and not all look for long-term profit. I'd say cool, the US goverment is trying to regulate this industry, so damn nice! How many non-US webmasters are there? How fast do you think many of them will adapt to US regulations? We've seen the discussions about 2257, many webmasters are more or less telling the US goverment to go fuck itself. So much for regulating this industry from the outside... Try regulating it from the inside? Say one day all the TGP's go away. How long do you think it will take before just as many, controlled by non-US webmasters, will take their place? The only thing that to me sounds good enough to regulate this industry is if processors would simply stop processing for non-compliant sponsors and make them police their affiliates to be compliant in turn or risk lose their processing. While we know such a thing would not happen easily, I'm honestly hoping VISA and MasterCard would have something to say about this. And with enough government pressure, they just might. The processing is where the non-compliants should be hit, that's where it would hurt the most. We all saw how fast things changed when the 1% chargeback rule started being enforced. For now, few actually have enough to lose by not complying, in fact they'd probably risk losing more if they did.

![]() As far as 2257, i just had a 1 hour convo/argument with another webmaster last night on messenger (hes been in the biz for 8 yrs) so it was actually interesting to see his view on the whole thing, and its really NOT THAT BAD. Yes, the new regs dont make any fuckin sense but basically, if you wanna promote hardcore, just have your records on file to back your shit up. If your sponsor wont give them out, either go softcore or drop them. Plain & simple. I welcome changes in the industry, hopefully it will get rid of the dumbass newbies that are fucking it up (not the newbies that actually do good for years to come, the newbies that come in for a year & bail out, leaving a fucked up trial of shit for us webmasters to pick up). We'll see how it all goes down... ![]() |

![]() One thing that puzzles me is why the fuck sponsors wouldn't wanna make their hosted galleries TGP2-style. Hell, whoever would be listing them would be more than happy to make nice coin off of them! And with sponsors making and hosting them, a lot more TGP owners would be inclined to list them, since they wouldn't have to worry about cheaters anymore. But hell, who said that, just because sponsors are sponsors, they have business sense? ![]()
