"CROATIA - *Passport required. Visa not required for tourist/business stay of up to 90 days. For stays over 90 days, a visa is required and should be obtained in advance. For additional information, consult the Embassy of Croatia, 2343 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20008 (202/588-8933), or the nearest Consulate General in Chicago (312/482-9902), Los Angeles (310/477-1009) or New York (212/599-3066). Hope that helps

Just go to the State Dept's website... a lot of useful information.

I read in the newspaper today that there is cold, snow, etc all over Austria, Croatia and Italy... not sure the exact areas but that's crazy.

Croatia is great, we had a lot of fun in Zagreb. Very nice city.

well, i think they exaggerated a bit...here in italy last week wasn't the greatest but there's not snow.. temp is around 20 now and will go back to normal 26-27 soon again hopefully.

I keep getting asked this shit by US folks as tho they expect to be in some elite category where they never need visas.

Two so far thought they did not even need a passport.

"Americans" - if, I assume you mean "US nationals", require valid travelling docs the same as anyone else when entering another jurisdiction.

Sure.. That info is available from the appropriate govt offices in your home country.

The main point was, least from what I've seen, is some folks think they don't need any of that, irrespective where they are travelling on the planet.

Prime example was a good friend from the US - he thought he could just come and visit me without any papers and stay as long as he liked - nada, nada nada :-)
