problem with bit torrent and linksys router

i just installed a linksys router so i could hook up both computers to my rogers cable but noticed that some torrent sites won't let me download the torrents anymore. i did the whole port forwarding thing for the bit torrent ports. i noticed when i try and save the torrent files to my drive and access them that way they are 0 bytes in size. since sites like torrentspy still works it makes me think it might be a http referer thing but i don't see any way to change that in the router admin. any one got any advice?

My advice is throw that piece of shit away right now before it fails you when you actually need it.

Consider it a cheap lesson and go buy a real wireless router.

I've had four in total. Each and every one of them has failed in under a year. Same thing for a friend of mine only he got smart after two and bought a different brand. Not a big fan of Linksys to say the least.

You need to go to the admin of your router.

Under the "ADVANCED OPTIONS". Enable the DMZ.

Once the download is done, disable it.

Maybe go to the linksys site and get the latest firmware for your model? I agree with WarChild though.. Linksys routers are shit in general.

I just use DMZ host - forward it to your local ip address, and 95% of the programs work fine again.. when you're finished turn DMZ host off.

I found a site that has a load of drivers/firmware for linksys and they work way better.

I didnt bookmark it though - doh

It wasnt that far into Google though if you search for linksys drivers.
