CCBill and Banking

Check out this article from Transaction World Magazine. Seems there is a chance that Merrick Bank might be getting out of the acquiring business. It is my understanding that CCBill uses Merrick Bank. Does this also mean big fines coming our way because CCBill uses Merrick? How would this impact us webmasters using CCBill? Should we be concerned?

The irony in that question is that it is widely rumored that John Perry will be the guy running PayByTouch. He was the CEO of iBill after Intercept purchased them. Perry was the guy that hated adult and decided to move iBill away from adult. He is now running CardSystems. Unbelievable...

It would still be nice to see a response from them on this. CCBill rocks, but hopefully, they will respond to this thread.

Nothing stays the same eh? Biz is in a constant flux and it's a matter of working thru it.

CCBill have done well over the years and I'm sure they will continue to do so in some form or other, despite external influences.

Serious webmasters who need "cash registers" should have backup contingency plans in place anyways, either in the form of secondary processors and/or with a totally different corporate "personna" in other jurisdictions.

If you want a response from CCBill send the url to this thread to someone from CCBill. I know I have several of them on my list. But to be honest I'm not concerned enough to message them.

That is what everyone said about Ibill when they were not responding to posts. CCbill is an excellent company but they should certainly respond.

Once again, I'm amazed at how people believe if you read it on the internet it must be true...

I skimmed this article and there are certainly a few less than clear points in it, and some of the history and commentary are skewed, to say the least.

I have no doubt that CCBill will continue to be just fine, as will Paycom. Both of these processors are run by very smart teams and they spend inordinate amounts of time and energy on making sure their long term business plans are strategically sound and workable over that same long term.

Anyone that actually knows the history of Card Systems, Pay By Touch, and a couple of the other companies mentioned in this article will understand exactly what I mean.

There's always some kind of emergency in the porn biz every year. I don't know if this is gonna be 2006's though.

After 5 years I'm starting to notice a trend here...

This article has NOTHING to do with CCbill or Its Banking. I reached out to Merrick Bank to find out what this article was about. If you remember back in 2001 when and few Adult Processors (GloBill etc..) Did not think they would have to register as an IPSP and have everyone pay a registration fee. Well we all saw what happened to them. Visa fined them and shut them down. This was the exact case with an individual ISO who wanted to go out and aggregate a whole bunch of small iso under him so they did not have to pay the 10K registration fee each to Visa. Well Visa and Mastercard fined them and told the bank to get rid of his company. This ISO lost his business just like Globill did and is now running around telling anyone who will listen that Merrick is getting out of Acquiring. When the truth is they are just getting rid of him.
I just amazes me how people will never learn that you can?t go around Visa and Mastercards rules.

I can tell you that our bankers had there Year end meeting with Visa just last week and they praised our account and told them they were extremely happy with our business.
