A BIG FUCK YOU to Lowes!!! <Rant>
So I go into Lowes Hardware store about 3 months ago to buy a chainsaw blade since mine had broken. I spend a good hour with the department rep. trying to find the right saw blade for the model chainsaw I have. The genius finally decides that he found the right one, although the model number is not on the back where it says, "This chain fits these saws". I figured he knew what he was talking about so I got it. $39.95 + tax for the saw, not big deal.
I take it home and of course, it doesn't fit. I drive back to Lowes and up to the customer service desk. I explain the problem and the girl says, "OK sir, I will give you store credit so you can get the correct one.". I go back into the chainsaw department and they finally call in their "Resident Chainsaw PRO" and he ensures me that they do not carry one that matches my saw. I ask him if they could order the correct one and he said yes. I continually called back for 2 weeks waiting for the correct chain to come in and every time it was like pulling teeth. I had to get routed to multiple people until a manger finally got onto the phone to let me know that they didn't have it. It gets better..... After 2 weeks I had enough and decided to just get my money back and look elsewhere for the chain. It was getting cold outside and I needed to get some wood for my fireplace. This is 2 1/2 weeks and numerous hours of my time already just for a fucking chainsaw blade that cost $39.95. I drive back to Lowes and once again, go up to the customer service counter. I explain my story and the lady tells me that she can't give me my money back for something that was issued store credit. I told her that I never got what I originally came in for and that it wasn't right. The manager joined the conversation and told me that they were unable to refund my money. I was stuck with $39.95 of store credit to Lowes. I just went in today with store credit in hand. I figured that I would use that as credit towards a gift card I wanted to get my dad. He loves to work around the house so a gift card to a hardware store would have been perfect. I would have chose Home Depot but I had that store credit so I figure I'd use it. I got up to the lady and hand her the gift card I want to buy for my father. I tell her that I would like one for $250 and wanted to use my store credit and I would pay for the rest. SHE SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DO IT!!! She said that I wasn't able to use my store credit to buy a gift card!!!! WHAT IN THE FUCK!?!?! The store credit is to use for things inside the store but yet they won't sell me a gift card that they sell in the store!?!? So I'm still stuck with this gift card that I'll probably never use. FUCK YOU, lOWES! Fuck you up the ASS!!! ![]() </rant>

Lowes will go bankrupt in 7 to 10 years based on their employees alone... not to mention Home Depot crushing them.

Yup Lowes sucks.
We had a similar problem a few months ago when we replaced our outer front and back doors. You'd figure, spending close to 3k with them on doors, they would have been able to get things right. Regards, Lee |

Can't really fault Lowes ...
1. one gets what they pay for ... those low, low prices come with numerous tradeoffs such as mediocre service, flimsy products, etc. 2. for the most part, the people who in work in "big box" stores of all types do not know the product - to assume otherwise is asking for trouble. 3. Lowes restriction seems quite reasonable ... most stores do not allow store credit to be used to purchase gift cards due to fradulent returns - I can't think of any major retailer that allows in-store credit to be used to buy giftcards. On a related topic, next time, pay with a credit card (not cash, not check, not debit, etc) ... that alone greatly reduces problems when returning/exchanging items, etc; generally in-store credit is asking for trouble and should generally be avoided ... better to get the amount refunded back to credit card, etc. Ron
