Affliliate Summit (pic)

In our never-ending quest to provide the finest service to our clients, goodgirl attended the Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas, which started as Internext ended.

She got the opportunity to meet with some of the movers and shakers in the affiliate program community, including our own J$tyle$ and Gary from Joe Bucks

She came away with lots of good ideas and new connections.

FYI, for those of you that think Internext was expensive, tickets for this event go for $1,500 a pop.

Two of the sessions I went to had speakers that mentioned adult marketing. They were basically telling merchants and affiliates they had a lot to learn from adult marketing and that they should be watching.

Goodgirl, I know you have been knee deep in the mainstream side of things for a while. I have 2 questions for you:

1. Which side has better sales techniques, mainstream or adult?

2. Which is harder and why?

1. Which side has better sales techniques, mainstream or adult?

I couldn't really pick, each have some unique techniques. Mainstream has some really nice video ads now build into their sites and emails. Some can even take orders inside the email itself. Sometimes I think their pitches of their products and services are way to long. But maybe I have just been on the internet too long. While Mainstream worries about the look and control of their ads, Adult worries much more about conversions. And as mentioned at the conference they are more then willing to send their traffic to their competitors just to make a sale. If they can't convert them, they find another way to get the sale.

2. Which is harder and why?

For me mainstream. I don't believe it is hard to get SE traffic for many mainstream sites. But it is hard as an affiliate to get some really unique ads and custom type content (not the gallery type content) but custom anything for an affiliate. Adult is very much a community, not just of one web board but crosses all of them. Adult definitely has better networking then mainstream from boards, resources, internet radio and every other way we come up with to be able to stay in contact with each other. And none of them fear to link to a competitor. Which this really does make it much easier for adult webmasters to find what they need information on.

I can probably go on and on there are so many differences.

I've attended this event since it's inception and know the people who put it together. If anyone has questions feel free to ask, it gets bigger and bigger each year. Over 1300 attended last week. Next one is in Orlando I believe.

That is so true! Please market my product, but you can't use my name. Let affiliates really market the names, and more people would know who they are. Some day they may learn.

I don't mean to sound mean...it just doesn't make much sense to me.

Yup, u know what I'm talking about
Frustrating as hell. Although I don't blame them, they don't want more competition on keywords they believe is rightfully theirs, it just sucks that I have to give up a certain marketshare because of this mentality!

I don't think anyone has ever implied that every of anything does anything. Just that there is a pattern.
