If you plan on paying off the balance monthly anyway, i would say go with American Express. The miles and the bonus plans, by far, kick everyone else's ass. Early check-in and late check-out at many hotels almost makes it worth it by itslelf.

AmEx definitely gives you the most options. I had a CapitolOne card with miles and really liked it. There aren't any blackout dates on the tix because they book your airline travel through one of the online sites. The price of the tix determines the # of miles used: ex 25,000 miles = tix up to $500. So you also don't have the restrictions on where you can go with the miles.
