Cars That Run On Water Already Being Tested By US Families

http://www.cnn.com/

at very bottom, click ? Watch: Are you ready for a hydrogen car?

Its all about how Honda is testing prototypes of hydrogen based fuel cell cars with American families. Various companies have had, for years, buses running on water in some US cities.

I heard about this when I was in high school, cars running on water, so the technology has been around for a LONG time. But the sad thing is I dont think these alternate fuel cars will make it mainstream because the Oil/Gas companies would lose money.

hydrogen testing has been going on for years. there is a lot of drawbacks from the instability of the fuel cell to the technology itself, maybe a hybrid will work eventually but dont hold your breath

Oil Co.s are big spending lobbyist in Washington. It will take some politicians with BALLS to stand up to em. Even our sad excuse for a President is an OIL GUY!

I would love see the US be creative, innovative and driven. Get past oil and be forward thinking. We could if they let us.

The technology is nothing new.. there are several alternative fuels we could use. The only issue is their hasn't been govt support to push their development. Mainly because big business oil runs the govt.

On a side note.. there has also been nothing stopping any other govt of the world from funding alternative fuel's.. Yet almost none have..

good point. had the problem been just the alternative to fuels it would have been solved a long time ago but there's a bigger monopoly involved in this issue.

Corn and Soy based fuels could be cheaper, cleaner and a bigger value to the American Economy than oil.

It is sad that It seems like politics are at fault for hampering what could be an environmental and societal breakthrough.

Looks like Iceland is already converting vehicles to using hydrogen power. Its interesting that hydrogen based vehicles get 2-3 times the mpg that gasoline powered cars do. Article.

There is a nanocell technology that was developed out of the University of Boston for hydrogen that maintains stability during storage. The technology encapsulates the liquified fuel and regulated the release of the fuel by slowly heating it to turn it back into a gas. If you fire a gun into the cell, a small flame is all that is released.

Corn and soy are going to be the ultimate replenishable fuel. There are biodiesels that are being used, all that requires is a diesel vehicle, a cheap retofit and some used french fry oil.

Hydrogen is the worst hype about energy saving there is. It cost more gasoline to produce the energy then it delivers.

Not true. There are self contained hdrogen stations that do not require anything more than water and solor energy. They store the solor energy and "zap" the water when someone fills up splitting the hydrogen atoms from the oxygen atoms. No storage facility is needed. At the time it is an expensive fill-up station however the first gasoline refineries were not cheap for what they produced, however, the life span of one of these stations is much greater than any refinery because of their simplicity.

No matter what technology catches on, there will never be a replacement to the smell of burning gasoline and burning tires...

Hydrogen fuelled cars

In the mid 70's a backyard inventor in Australia came up with a Johny ordinary car that ran on water. He developed some time of catalytic convertor that took the Hydrogen out of water that he stored in his fuel tank and it passed every scrutiny by engineers.

He couldn't find a soul to invest in his scheme because fossil fuel was cheap then.

Guess who purchased the patent to the concept...Yep you guessed it. An oil company (Shell?) for a million dollars.

Where is the hydrogen car now. Yep, you guessed it again. In mothballs because how the fuck are these greedy pricks going to make money out of a car that runs on water from a tap. Forget this hydrogen shit that they want to pump into your car from gas outlets and charge heaps for.
