What's A Fair Salary To Pay A Grunt?

What's a fair US hourly rate to pay someone (non 3rd world country,i.e. US, Canada, UK etc.) for doing "grunt" work. Gallery reviews, writing descriptions, making thumbs, resizing images, designing/creating galleries and free sites, daily updating sites/blogs? What do YOU pay (a range is fine) your peeps?

Seriously though, the things that you are listing are not minimum wage skills. I would say, for what you have listed, $10-$12/hr is about right

I dont think you want someone who is doing your grunt work also doing your design work

if you can find ONE person who can do all that ... he/she more than likely can just make money on his or her own

best bet is to get a group of people who can do certant things

I would figure $10/hr or so, you can find plenty of bored college kids that would gladly go for that to earn a few extra $$....

Now if you'd just get bored enough to work for that.

In Canada they pay freelance home-workers $10/hr. to do menial data entry for large data centers (basically what you'd call grunt work).

Call centers (more grunt work) pay about $10/hr.

Anything below that, I wouldn't have high expectations on the reliability or quality of work from that employee.

True, but most people who try and make money on their own fail to make a decent living because they don't understand generating traffic and SEO work etc. How many WMs have we seen who are trying to make money on their own and then go get a rep or full time job. Sometimes a steady salary is a nice thing to have.

I don't believe in heavy graphics on my ads because they detract from the actual marketing and in my experience lead to less sales. So the "design" work is more good page layout, good text and good color selection. Color selection is the tough one though, even I struggle from time to time with that.

True.. but those kids have a lot of energy etc. and once they see what can be done in this biz, will more often then not start their own sites etc., probably to compete with you (since you've taught them everything) and they may even rip off some of your stuff.

Anyone else with recomendations?

Currently I'm already paying someone about $14.20/hour for some part time help doing the type of stuff I outlined. She gets about $12.50 at her regular full time job (non adult biz). Will probably be looking for someone else shortly but want to make sure I'm in the right range with what others pay.

Nope, depending on the market that sounds about right.

Hi, Tempest... it also depends on the amount of work you are offering. I have done some jobs around here for quite a bit less and a few for quite a bit more. If you are offering a fair workload to ensure the person has at least 20 hours a week they may work for less, if it is a project that needs 8-12 hours, then another a week later then they will want more.

I am capable of the tasks mentioned and most of my online income has been from working with others as opposed to my poor traffic generation skills.

Hit me up on ICQ - 270731647 when you get ready to look for a new second hand man. I can use the extra work. I am reliable, and aim to please. Thanks.
