I don't personally use it for the advertising end, but I have to wonder how effective it is for actual sales leads and future brand/site recognition. IMO it's pretty weak in that area and surfers are learning to completely ignore it regardless of its relevance do to it's appearance

Anyone else feel this way?
Am I terribly wrong?

It's not the surfers. It's the bid system on clicks that kills a perfectly viable ad medium, by driving the costs beyond the range of acceptable ROI, at least for most adult programs. Some other advertisers, whose monetization models don't depend entirely (or at all) on online sales, seem to cover it, though --

It's perfectly viable for anyone selling anything with reasonable profit margins in mainstream.

As far as a branding effort, eh, not so much.

I do lead generation in mainstream for clients in mortgage and travel. Hit me up on icq.

I manage clients accounts with google adwords PPC and it can make a huge difference.

If not carefull can break you too.
