Idiots On Ebay !!

Ebay is getting so much of a waste of time now, with so many clueless idiot timewasters on it.

People not paying for items, people not sending items.

People saying they didn't realise i wanted payment with paypal.

It didn't used to be like this. Sucks

The annoying thing too is that when you do give the fuckers a bad rating for pissing around they then have the right to give you one back. Keeping a 100% rating is almost impossible these days with the idiots around.

Yeah tell me about it.

I'm gonna just use it every so often now, when i'm really after something, rather than checking it out most nights...

Thanks for the tip... unfortunately I JUST started selling on Ebay... oh well, I guess I'll soon have my own negative experiences with the buyers there.

I only buy the odd thing for the most part now and recently it's been problem free. Selling was causing the problems for us but then we had already cut back hugely on that when they started to get FAR too greedy with the fees a year or three ago. They simply cut too much into the bottom line these days to sell via them especially with the problems idots now cause.

A friend of mine has been talking about an eBay alternative site for a while now, I wish he'd get his ass in gear and build it. Now is a great time for it to be put into place. The time is right for someone to come out with a good site that actually works and put eBay in its place.

I'd rather just buy retail rather than go through the hassle

There are still plenty of ebay 'alternatives' out there and until/unless someone has HUGE funding and is happy to take a loss for a long while they will remain no threat - the same with any auction startups. You're friend is onto a loser before he starts.

Ebay is so big because it has so many sellers. It has so many sellers because it has so many buyers. It has so many buyers because.... etc. Sort of a reverse catch-22. Very, very few companies would have the expertise and funding to compete against that and drag any significant % of users away. Try finding stuff on any other auction site out there - it's usually a huge waste of time.

A shame because as with Paypal (same company I know) and Google they've become far too big, lazy, greedy and complacent but have such a huge market hold that toppling them will be very, very hard and won't happen anytime soon.

Your logic is flawed. Without going into too many details about his plans (they are my plans, too -- I hate eBay as much as he does and I do plan on being a partner in the venture) lets just say that our funding is nothing substantial and the number of sellers and buyers on the site dont have as much to do with it as everyone likes to think. We have a plan to work around this.

In order to have buyers, you must first have sellers. If you have sellers, buyers will come on thier own as long as they know the place exists. Buyers are informed in many ways.

K-Mart was big once too. Then this little store called Wal-Mart came along. Now Wal-Mart is big, and they too will go the way of K-Mart when someone else comes along and reinvents the mousetrap.

Nope - I simply have a clue. My logic is perfect. When you start to rival ebay please do come back and tell me how wrong I am. It's not going to happen though. A tip - a course in business and marketing 101 will go a long way to making you successful.

I agree with you. I tried to buy something the other day...every time I submitted the 'request total', I got an automated email with their faqs. No human. I finally told them to keep their damned item and that if they gave me negative feedback, I would send all 27 automated responses to the 'dispute console'.

Marketing 101 also says you don't have to be no. 1 to be successful...

Why be required to be the size of Ebay..
