How to get DVD footage onto my PC and edit?

Does anyone know how I can rip a DVD onto my PC as an AVI or something so I can edit it with Premiere? Would really appreciate an answer!

Premeire is really finicky about what it imports into a timeline. you're better off with Vegas or Canopus for DVD content.

OK....

The simplest way is with TmpgEnc DVD author 1.6 ( http://www.pegasys-inc.com ). This software will rip the DVD in mpeg2, allow you to edit and re-author, and finally burn the DVD to Nero or other ...

Otherwise, DVD Decrypter will rip the w hole dvd to your HD.. Then, you can edit with the above program, or use a VOB editor ( http://www.dvddecrypter.com )
