Can you ever really trust someone?

trust, can you REALLY trust - truly trust - another human being?

how do you get to that point?

Trust is built on delivered promises.

At least in my book anyway. If someone's as good as their word, I trust them a little bit more.

The only people I trust by default are my family.

I would guess it would take years and years of no fuckups and thinking in a very similiar way. And both parties must have something to lose by breaking the trust.

Nope. You can't. The only person you can TRULY ever trust is yourself. If you claim to trust someone other than yourself, you are doing nothing more than humoring yourself and putting your rotten and skeptical mind at ease, even for just a few minutes.

To a certain extent. I have just learned through whatever avenues that I have crossed throughout my life not to give 100% of it away.

I don't think you ever SHOULD trust someone 100%. To me, I always question all motives behind what people are doing. If someone says hi to me, I think "oh, that was nice of them," but right after that I think "I wonder what they want."

you MIGHT be able to put your trust 100% in ONE or TWO people in this life and they are usually family. Also depends on what you consider a breach of trust - some people are overly sensitive, so ANY slight wrongdoing by somebody they care about is taken as a serious breach of trust when to most other people it wouldn't.

even the nicest people with alot of integrity have an agenda - their own. the only people i think you could be able to trust 100% are people who would die for you basically, and that would be family, a parent usually. they have no other agenda than you being happy, not for them, but for yourself. That said, I don't trust my mother farther than I could throw her. My old man was the only one I could trust 100%. Siblings - at one point i thought i could but I realized they have their own agenda as well.

Once you start mixing in sex/romance/serious relationship/marriage, gets dicey. There are agendas there and expectations that sometimes never get mentioned - until things break down under the pressure of real life.

Most Likely To Be 100% Trustworthy

1. Parent
2. One best friend, long long time best friend
3. Sibling
4. Lover

Just my immediate family and thats it.

Alot of people will talk shit about being freinds, partners and all that happy lovey shit.... Then get some money involved and you'll see the real personalities come thru...

Anytime there is money involved, dont trust a motherfucker at all or you'll wind up looking for places to hide the bodies.

One would consider that the person you decide to tie the knot with in marriage.

When only once trust is broken, marriage then follows suite. Something I learned long time ago with my marriage breakdown.

Fuck that.

I trust very few people. I take the odd leap of faith, but it's normally a calculated risk and has nothing to do with trusting the other person. The only people i trust one hundred percent are my family, less than a handful of close friends and a few people i've done business with. Everyone else can eat my ass until they earn my trust.

My way of working is everyone has 'level 1' trust to start - they are tested - they are checked & rechecked and if they are good, they get to level 2 - then the tests start again & so on until level 5 - The only person on level 5 is my husband - he's been put through all tests & comes through with flying colors & nobody ever has.

My father always warned me that respect & trust was earned, not acquired through relation - I always keep that in mind.

There are different levels of trust. For example, I trust myself with my credit card #. I trust my family with a key to my house. I trust a friend with my phone #. So I guess I trust everybody but at the same time I don't trust anybody 100%
