Anger as CCTV fails to spot damage to car TWICE
A LYNN woman has questioned the power of CCTV to crack down on crime after it twice failed to catch the culprits who smashed her car.

Tippa Nunn's car was parked within metres of the Birchwood Street camera when a vandal smashed her headlight, and directly underneath it when a motorist crashed into her car before driving off without leaving any details.
Last month's crash left a dent in the side of a door, but with a repair cost of around £1,000, Miss Nunn (24) was this week waiting to hear if it could be a write-off.
She reported both incidents to the police, but was told no evidence was caught on camera on either occasion.
"I find it hard to believe that twice the camera has failed to catch the culprits," Miss Nunn (24) told the Lynn News. "The camera has a motion sensor and whenever I walk outside of my house the camera moves and watches me!"
She contacted West Norfolk Council, which installs and operates the cameras in Lynn, to complain but was told nothing could be done.
"Are these cameras any use? Is footage even being recorded? Or have they simply not bothered to check it," she said. "The fact that some inconsiderate individual collided with my car and didn't leave their details shows the age we live in."
A police spokesman said despite these incidents the cameras still prove a strong line of inquiry in any investigation.
"West Norfolk Council, which operates the CCTV system, is always very helpful in making this material available to police to review or seize as necessary. In this particular instance however, inquiries by officers failed to identify any relevant CCTV footage."
A comment from the council was not available at the time of going to press.
