Miami Vice is my favorite movie this year.....sounds like i'm in the minority

I went into this thing SUPER critical. I had been excited for it; then read some reviews saying it was great and some saying it sucked. Then had heard some random opinions saying it sucked.

The cinematography was amazing as could be expected...But I just totally loved the whole thing.

I had the following gripes and nothing more:

1) Colin Farrell's voice/accent was corny at times
2) A few corny lines that should have been chopped out
3) Jaime Foxx didn't have enough lines

Short of those elements...I thought this was EASILY the best movie i've seen this year. Crash was my favorite of last year

I really think this is a love it or hate it movie (granted I don't understand why some hated it so much). Go check it out and judge for yourself

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. "Miami Vice," $25.2 million.

2. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," $20.5 million.

3. "John Tucker Must Die," $14 million.

4. "Monster House," $11.5 million.

5. "The Ant Bully," $8.2 million.

6. "Lady in the Water," $7 million.

7. "You, Me and Dupree," $7 million

8. "Little Man," $5.1 million.

9. "The Devil Wears Prada," $4.8 million.

10. "Clerks II," $3.9 million.

But I still think it wasn't that well done and could have been way more exciting.

I really liked the movie. it was well thought out. I really enjoyed the dialogue however you are right it took some time to get use to with a few of the corny lines and accent.

Cinematography was good, not great! And was probably due to the Hd format it was shot on and the limitations of the format. It looks like they shot the entire thing with minimal lighting which is excellent however if you do that and want a comparison look at Stanley Kubricks Movie "Barry Lyndon" which was shot on film with only using Candle light!

I just loved the feel of the movie, that we weren't being hammered over the head with dumb shit. It was one to enjoy and sit through and kept you engaged.
This isn't really for people who get bored easily, I loved it.

Thought it sucked. The acting was sucking wind bad. Colin's accent was corny. Jamie had to few lines and the action wasn't all that great. For movies along the same line, Bad Boys II was waaaay better. It's hit and miss with Jamie Foxx. He did so well with Ray because he put his heart and soul into that part. Other than that his acting is stull subpar to me. Seems like Colin was trying to hard to be a tough guy. He's already a tough guy so he doesn't need to try any harder with the stupid accent. Sorry guys, maybe next time.

Colin's accent/tough guy deep voice was deffinitely one part I could have gone without. Jaime foxx had too few lines but I thought he was very good on what he DID have.

You didn't think there was good action scenes? WTF? Even the guys slamming it can be man enough to give credit where credit is due....That gun fight scene at the end was better than Heat in my opinion

It must be the age difference as to those who liked it so much.

I've seen too many great action films in my time to give that one a good score.

I was expecting to see a film on the level of Heat or Bad Boyz. It certainly wasn't even close to that.

Heat and Bad Boyz are deffinitely better plot lines and dialogues. But Miami Vice had such a "real" feeling to it. I love the filming style. Its like professional amateur.

Its kinda like in collateral...at the end of the movie you see the sun coming up. The movie was 2 hours but I just had this feeling in my stomach like I had just been out all night and the day is now coming. Hard to explain but this movie left me with a simiilar viewing experience
