if you are basing it on looks alone.. it is a very beautiful car. however.. it is a very stiff driving vehicle for supposedly being a luxury auto. the gear box is also very stiff to drive. shifting is not smooth in the least bit, and you will go through a gear box or two while owning one.

just some advice!

Is that a problem with all of the Astons? How do you know this?

I've had a couple of friends that have owned Aston Martins. once again, beautiful cars, just very disappointing in overall performance... and i don't mean "get up and go"... i just mean overall. The way the gearbox is designed, you would think AM would design it to shift smoother. it's very much like driving those video game cars at the local arcade where the gear shifter has to be exact. bad analogy, but very precise.

The cars have great torque to them, and for the most part are quiet when driving up to about 60 mph. anything over 60 and you start getting alot of wind noise as well as engine noise.

Test drive one and drive the shiat outta it... you'll see exactly what I am talking about.

And as i've said, you will go through at least 1 gearbox while owning one... usually around the 30k mileage point. Unfortunately it's a common problem... and not in the least bit cheap to fix.

Honestly, buy it if you like it. Youve earned it.

You, being one of the few classy people I have had the pleasure of meeting in this industry, deserve to drive what you like.

I was maybe a bit harsh with the "few" comment, but you are one of the truly good ones. I have had the utmost pleasure of meeting alot of good people in this industry so I should retract that statement. You are absolutely one of the top though.

Mitch - i was at the dealer on Olympic Blvd in Bev Hills a couple of weeks back looking at one. I liked it but for $120K + tax i'd rather have a used Ferrari 360. I was surprised that the seats were pretty snug fitting - much more so than any other car i've driven.

Heck, you can get a 2004 Gallardo for $140-150K.

Ive never understrood the whole car thing - I had my old Mitsi in NZ, never had the urge to upgrade even when I could afford to.

A friend of mine bought a $200K Merc and I had to drive it home from Queenstown, about 200 miles - we did the whole trip at under 30mph - I was terrified of it.

Thanks, Mitch
Mitch, a buddy of mine in Vegas has one. Rode in it, did not drive it yet. Not super fast but it handles amazingly and as far as looks go/exclusitivity, KNOCK OUT!!! Price should be around $120K or so if you can grab one....not too many around from what I've seen.

The V8 Vantage will be initially offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and other alternatives will be announced at a later date. A great deal of time and effort has been spent ensuring that the new transmission has a smooth and fast shift action to ensure its ultra close ratios can be used to maximum effect.

"It is one of the best manual gear changes in the world," added Jeremy Main. "Driving enjoyment is a very important quality of the V8 Vantage and part of this is a superb gear change action."
