Affiliate payout in Euros (?) via Wire Transfer - what do you think?

As the topic says - what do you think about an affiliate program paying out in euros (?) via wire transfer?

Doesn't really matter what the currency is, my bank converts our USD wires automatically to Euros.
what does matter is the revenue.

For people in EU it could be very handy
For people whose local currency is neither USD or EUR then it could still be handy as the conversion may be better for EUR

Question is... how are you going to absorb the conversion losses? If you bill in USD and pay out in EUR then the conversion risk moves from the affiliate to the program.

Euros are fine as my bank automatically converts at no extra cost to me.. however, the wire if mandatory is disturbing.. I promote a mainstream company whose only payout is via wire.. which fucking sucks.. they charge $25 for the wire to send me $100, which leaves me $75 then the goddamned bank charges another $12.50 to recieve the wire which leaves me $62.50..

IMO-- wires blow unless you're a fucking whale..

Solution: European banking - no or only little wire fees

Sure, as long as the commissions are also in euros, like 30€ per signup, it would be very nice.

No extra cost? I guess you think the USD-EUR conversion rate is constant?

That's one disadvantage of wires - you can't choose when to do the conversion. I have a little script that shows the past 28 days of AUD rates, plus 7, 14 and 28 day averages, to help me decide the best day to deposit a batch of cheques.

BTW is the typical $20 "inside USA" wire fee for a transfer between bank accounts? In Australia a bank-to-different-bank transfer costs about 25c.

We have this capability and it works out great. In fact you can choose your payout currency.

Your bank sucks man. Go to a few banks in your town, and ask for these things. You'll see fees vary ALOT from bank to bank. My bank charges no acceptance wire fees, no fees for checks if you let them stay in bank for 2 weeks, and for a wire of around $100 fees are around $9 (or 3% from the actuall amount you're sending up to $45 (which would be the max fee if you send more then $1500.

If the product is billed in ?, then its payout will be in ?

Of course once the ? are sent, then the "risk" or "benefit" (conversion rates can also be positive ) is transfered to the affiliate. But that is not new to any affiliate who have received payouts in a different currency than his local currency.

Odd to think there are quibbles over bank costs when talking about two currencies where there is almost a 40% difference over the last few years
