![]() Just wondering what you guys and gals think cpanel and plesk are missing.
Here are some of the things I would love to see in cpanel (cpanel): - In file manager when editting sourcecode of a page you can see line numbers. - In file manager when editting (x)html you can switch from code view to design view to see if your edits are going well - You can create new users with limited permissions to access your cpanel safely without being able to do harm but able to view some things (whatever you allow in settings) - file manager would be cool with an advanced search possbility. Find files containing eg: include_once, find files that have been uploaded or modified between certain dates, search files only with this extention etc... - turn your website offline/online (eg. when you are upgrading something or whatever). People can't access any pages whatsoever besides the index page with notice why site is offline. - dead link scanner (check if your site links to any pages that don't exist) - pr check scanner (show pr's of all pages and allow user to sort by page name, pr etc...) - automatic backup system that emails or uploads to external ftp you daily with all backups (or only files + sql queries that have been modified within the past day). - message system to show if you have any unpaid bills, planned downtime (PM type system between admin and user) - Login logs. Email website admin if someone suspicious tries to access your cpanel and show details. - IP location system In fantastico: - Install script (eg. Wordpress) using existing database on your computer (db with wordpress posts - eg. if you want to move your blog) - Instead of fantastico making a new db+user automatically, allow user to also have the option to select an already existing database + user or give a name personally + user + pass for the installation - when upgrading, automatically back everything up before doing the upgrade allowing the user to restore it if upgrade goes wrong. - subdomain possibility Have some more ideas but these are just a few of them. What would you like to see in cpanel/fantastico/plesk?

the cpanel "transfer" program sucks mad balls. I am talking about the one that you use to transfer your site from one cpanel machine to another. It really sucks and needs to be redesigned.
Plus Cpanel is extremely resource intensive...I prefer Directadmin above all, very low resource usage and a great little program.
