Can you afford $1 a week?

Think about this:

If everyone in the U.S. gave $1 per week to a fund (just a general fund). Every week this country would have over $200,000,000 to solve it's problems.

Makes you think huh?

most people give alot more than just $1.00, most people give around 17% of their total income to our "governments fund"

unfortunately lately that money has been going to useless wars...

Wrong fund, lol

Obviously you can't let the Gov't be in control of the money, they're a bunch of fucking crooks.

I don't know why the UK even bothers with a census. Considering the government admitted they don't even have a rough idea of how many illegals are living here.

No doubt America has the same issues...

a cup of coffee costs more.

every week...

of course it will never happen, mostly because people just don't really care.

Think about how much money is given away each and every night of the week on game shows... (this is actually what got me thinking of this). It's fucking ridiculous, and kind of sad.

That is true but the government wastes way too much money. And I'm not talking about wars or defense systems here. I'm talking about a system that is designed around rewarding high spending with more money to spend.

If the government was designed more like a business, i.e. being accountable for spending, we'd have a lot more money.

who is they? I am not talking about giving it to the Gov't. Our Gov't is worthless, I am talking about using the money directly to help solve OUR problems.

Week 1: 200,000,000 could feed a lot of hungry people
Week 2: 200,000,000 could build some cheap housing
Week 3: 200,000,000 could pay a lot of doctor bills
Week 4: 200,000,000 could fill a lot of pot holes
Week 5: 200,000,000 could pay some wages clean up trash

The key is to not let the Gov't be involved, once they get involved, it's fucked. Every cent would be accounted for.

I think that instead of always dipping into our pockets to give cash, we should take an hour out of each week and do something that benefits our neighbourhoods. Forget global progress, how about we make progress in our own neighbourhoods? Pick up garbage, make sandwiches for the homeless, organize a block party, create a community garden... these things would definitely make a huge difference and we could finally take back some of the power from the government!

200 million sounds like a huge number, but really it's not... if it was THAT easy, they would just raise the taxes by $50/year for everyone to solve all the problems?

I think the government has more than enough money. If only it stops spending too much on their expensive hobby of making war with other countries.
