Spend a year living in the USA, and a year living in Iran.

Then come back and tell us which country supports freedom.

Ahaha It's a wonder any of you morons are still living in America. The irony is i'm sure the majority of you do, yet you bitch, yet you're still here. Give your liberal (everybody is equal) rhetoric a rest, nobody cares.

AHHH you are right Sorry

1. It;s allowed to keep a suspect awake, and not let him sleep for days
2. It's legal now to make the room very cold, and give the suspect undercooling issues, so he will give a (fake?) statement.....

And yeah of course it's better to live in the US than in Iran....BUt I was talking about the 'torture'

Oh well,

We need to follow the Geneva Convention ..... that means shooting any enemy prisoner found in the uniform of another country, or civilian clothes.

That solves the torture issue ... and as torture goes we are on the "discomfort" side of the scale.

Ah yes, like everyone they captured are terrorists :-)
Probably 99% of them aren't.. and why should anybody have the right to torture innocent people..
I thought USA was civilized, but yet they brutalize.

Granted, I doubt you'd be targeted as a terrorist, but it would sure suck to be misidentified as one:

The best way to avoid us going medieval on your ass is not to do some terrorist ass shit. Just think, if Osama hadn't had his boys fly those planes in our buildings, they wouldn't be forced to listen to Britney Spears, and kept up past their bedtimes (tortured).

Making someone listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and having the hell beat out of you are not the same thing.

There has been torture in every war whether you wanna believe it or not.

This time it's a little harder to identify friend from foe. And I'm sure the new approved methods will be used to enforce other agendas. All in the name of protecting us from terrorism.

Protecting the country from terrorism = important.
Protecting the country from so called obscenity = you decide.

What about income tax evasion or that joint you have every night to chill after work?

OR this administration doesn't like you for some reason, you spoke up against one of their causes. Gee, you might be a terrorist? In a couple years we'll have a new administration. Liberal or Conservative. Either one will be capable of abuse of power.

Sky is falling again.

Get a clue mister Redneck...

Again, sure terrorists should be punished. But torturing SUSPECTS.....Is that good? They are SUSPECTS...They are not proven terrorists...

And keeping someone awake, and underooling him.....

When a guy get's popped and called a terrorist for smoking a J, I will be right with you. I think they are crying about terrorists having to listen to loud music, and missing out on beauty rest. Might want to look at all the stuff we provide for these guys in guantanamo, like dental, medical, laundry, delicious islam approved meals, etc. and balance that against the so-called torture.

Torture is a part of warfare.
We would not have information without it, and everyone knows that. They usually offer a reward and defection for information rather than torture, torture usually is last.

truth is - their country is under siege by a small group of religious gangs who don't think twice in killing children etc. - does the USA simply allow them to walk all over democracy? or.. in dealing with terrorists - do you allow yourself temporarily to use their tactics ( the only ones they respect ) against them?

remember, terrorists do NOT represent the whole country, and the only thing that will stop them is to have a respect for the countries they are attempting to upset. When we find a serial killer in our midst, why not simply give him therapy and when he tells us that he is ready to join society - we let him? crime today is deterred for the most part by the fear of the punishment -what about the soft hearts who think locking someone up is inhuman?

Their crime is murdering based on religious beliefs, and although USA is at times bullying other countries around - you do NOT respond by murdering civilians. I do think that to balance off this world to a reasonable state of peace - that some terrorists blood will have to be shed or water poured over their head while upside down to get answers - are we killing them? No - but we are using tactics that for the most part is raising the respect level of the terrorists to think twice about doing anything to North America - if we didn't do that - then there would be more attacks happening NOW !!

This isn't about Democrats vs. Republicans as much as how you deal with someone who has no moral/ethical sense and who will kill and be happy for it. So stop treating them as normal minded human beings - unless you actually lived there - I am pretty sure that anyone who has been in the military or had military training would understand what I am saying.

You are calling a guy at gfy a "porn pusher." Porn is really pulled, not pushed. Moronic and unintelligent are redundant by the way.

gotta link?

I believe that they release people who "were no longer a threat" these people were picked up off the battle field.

This thinking is exactly why many European countries are now being run by the Middle East. One day you will wake up.

So we have another lying crook in office! After the previous administration, I had hoped it was over.

I'd get the hell out of the US and not step foot in it again unless your a citizen (well, until this law applies to citizens too, or you're a US citizn who likes to give charitable donations to Islamic and Muslim organizations).

Quote:
Included in the bill, passed by Republican majorities in the Senate yesterday and the House on Wednesday, are unique rules that bar terrorism suspects from challenging their detention or treatment through traditional habeas corpus petitions. They allow prosecutors, under certain conditions, to use evidence collected through hearsay or coercion to seek criminal convictions.

The bill rejects the right to a speedy trial and limits the traditional right to self-representation by requiring that defendants accept military defense attorneys. Panels of military officers need not reach unanimous agreement to win convictions, except in death penalty cases, and appeals must go through a second military panel before reaching a federal civilian court.

By writing into law for the first time the definition of an "unlawful enemy combatant," the bill empowers the executive branch to detain indefinitely anyone it determines to have "purposefully and materially" supported anti-U.S. hostilities. Only foreign nationals among those detainees can be tried by the military commissions, as they are known, and sentenced to decades in jail or put to death.

At the same time, the bill immunizes U.S. officials from prosecution for cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment of detainees who the military and the CIA captured before the end of last year. It gives the president a dominant but not exclusive role in setting the rules for future interrogations of terrorism suspects.
