Audio Production People: Laptop Audio Production

Audio Production People: Laptop Audio Production

I have a Dell XPS Gen2 Laptop and I am looking to do some Audio Production with it...

Using Adobe Audition 2.0, Audacity, FruityLoops and more...

I will be recording live vocals by musical artists and also some instruments being recorded.

My Question to you Audio Production GURU's is:

What kind of External Sound-Card or Audio (Breakout) Device should I get?

What do you recommend?

Thank you for your time and Kind regards to you all....

For just starting out this will work nicely. There are higher end solutions also. This would be a base model.

Maudio is a good company.

Considering the fact that you will be tracking live instruments and vocals... I would highly recommend buying MBox2 from digidesign. It comes with a pretty loaded version of ProTools which is ideal for tracking, mixing and a bit of mastering as well. The majority of plug-ins for ProTools are EQs, Compressors, Delays, Reverbs, etc... ProTools DOES NOT support too many midi instrument plug ins. But since you are recording live instruments this should be perfect for you.

You can get a nice MBox2 bundle for around $700, maybe even less. Good luck
