Senator Obama

If he ran for President I think I definitely would vote for him. He seems like he has a really good aura and he truly wants to do the right things for this country.

It's still a tad too early to tell but he's definitely got the press buzz going.

He's a good guy with some good views for sure. Only problem with him or Hillary running in '08 is that most of this ass backwards country isn't ready for a black or a woman to be president. Sad as that is, it's true. Running either one of them in '08 will guarantee the Republicans keep the white house.

I agree..I have the same view as you, and if any election is important it's the upcoming one because this is the time Democrats have the best chance in awhile for actually winning...the Republicans have dug themselves into a big hole the last two terms...

he won't run in 2008, I think that if he was to ever run it would be in 2012

but he made it pretty clear on oprah that he likes being where he is, he is able to make much more change and be more on the level with the people he is trying to help

I think he'll be a force to be reckoned with in 2012 (providing a democrat incumbent isn't running) as long as he doesn't have any major foulups in that time. I think his being black will help him secure the southern states and California & New York will certainly vote for a sturdy democratic candidate. If you take California, New York, & Florida, you've won the election right there. Mr. Obama seems like an ideal candidate to do just that once he has a little more political seasoning.

On a side note, my wife won't ever vote for Hillary Clinton because she didn't leave Bill when he cheated on her in front of the whole country. If there are other women like that, Hillary doesn't stand a chance.

Good point. I don't think Hillary would win if she went for 2008

I would not vote for hillary clinton, she is a fucking cunt back asswards bitch, she likes everyone to think she is a liberal democrat, but she is practically almost a republican...nowhere near the radical type of republican is, but she is up there

everyone in politics sucks these days though, doesn't matter what party you are with, you are most likely a corrupt, bribed idiot that panders to whoever is writing you the biggest check

You have to run to the middle a little bit to win the presidency, especially as a democrat nowadays. If you're going to have any chance down south you can't be seen as an anti-gun, pro-choice, liberal flip flopper.

One thing to note in Hillary's favor: Bill Clinton. He's the most effective campaigner the democrats have seen in decades. He can talk effectively about anything (even when he's not saying anything at all), and I think he could bring her votes she wouldn't otherwise get.

he'll maybe run for 2012 but I doubt he'll get elected...

to be honest the only good thing about him is that he is a good public speaker, it's kind of scary how many people want to vote for him after just hearing the speech that he made a while back...

How do you know that's why people would be voting for him?

I've seen a good bit of him and learned of his background, views, diversities, etc. .. And he seems to have a lot clearer vision than most I've seen or listened to... on either side of the fence..

he hasn't accomplished much that would make him good a candidate for president, what he has going for him is the fact that he is black and is a good public speaker...while it may seem cynical it is why people like him..

as messed up as it is, thats very true.

also, special interest groups that pretty much fund a majority of the campaigns in the USA are against both Hillary & Obama.

thus giving republicans a leg up...

Most people only know about Obama because of the speech he gave at the democratic national convention. The fact that he's black (and from Illinois) got him on the Oprah show, so I think his points were actually pretty solid.

I like Obama and think he may run. I think it is more likely that he will end up a vice presidential candidate in 2008.

For those that say Hillary can’t win, I think you are wrong. I’m not saying she will win, but she has a chance.

Here is how:

She goes into the primaries and crushes her opponents. Kind of like Kerry did in 2004. After a few primaries it was obvious who the winner was and he spent the rest of the primary campaign time basically worrying about Bush, not the other candidates. Hillary could do the same. Meanwhile the dozen different republican candidates spend the entire primary ripping themselves to shreds. She gets the nomination and makes an inspired pick at vice president. Say, Obama, for example. If you are going to offer a fresh alternative to the people, why not go all the way.

A black vice presidential candidate will help her solidify the democratic base which has a large amount of minorities in it. Then she pulls out the big gun. Bill Clinton. Love or hate him you have to admit he is the best campaigner of this generation and maybe of all time. The guy is slick as snot on a slug. He is a southerner and he and Hillary have southern roots. They can go down there and win a couple of the southern states. I’m not saying it will happen, but it could. When Clinton left office he was still pretty popular. Gore refused to let him campaign for him because he wanted to prove he was his own man. Hillary won’t make that mistake and unlike most of the democrats Bill and Hillary are not afraid to play dirty and they will fight back.

Some people say that she may be too liberal and people won’t vote for her. Kerry is considered one of the most liberal politicians in the country and he came within a few votes and some funny business of winning Ohio and the presidency. Some people say she is too polarizing a figure to win. There is no more polarizing figure in American politics the George W Bush and he won twice.

She might not be a good president, but to dismiss her unable to win is wrong if anything the Bush administration has taught us that you can fool the sheep into believing anything is good for them.

sorry for the long post

"Everything else you said"
I think you're pretty much right on the money here. The combination of Obama as her VP and Bill as her right hand man on the campaign trail could be a deadly mix. It wouldn't really take more than a few important southern states swinging her way to make the election for her.

His stances on the issues can be found at: http://obama.senate.gov/issues/

There's pretty good info on bills he has sponsored, things he'd like to see, etc.

I am trying figure out which one would be assassinated first.

Hillary will not be elected, not because she is a women, but because she is a socialist. Carpet Bagging, Socialist, Douchebag who holds her finger up to gauge public opinion. Once she got into office watch out... The realistic people in this country understand this.

Obama - no opinion as he only recently started surfacing. People in the mid-west know him... That is about it.

With a little more experience in the Senate, he might do real well. Modern politics works mostly by buzz now but SOME semblance of substance is still required (notwithstanding Dan Quayle).

Look at the potential candidates on both sides...

http://www.politics1.com/p2008.htm

The Democrats clearly have the bigger names (and I still think Al Gore will throw his hat in also). The only chance the Republicans have is if they run McCain, and true Republican supporters don't like him. So if he isn't making it out of the primaries, who else is left? Certainly nobody who is President material.

It's kind of sad when Republicans have to fuck up time and time and time again for the Democrats to just have a **CHANCE** of getting into office.

Doesn't say much for my party, I guess.

It's far too early to be making judgements like that. In all likelihood they'll grab a Republican governor from a southern state and throw him up there. Governors always do well because they have no senate voting record that the opponent can pick apart. Also, McCain or Condi Rice could make a run, which would be pretty interesting.

to be fair his time in the senate will only work to his disadvantage as there will be more material to use for negative campaigning...
