For all of you conspiracy nuts that claim elections are fixed

...the election results seem to dispell that theory or the Republicans would not have lost control of the House and Senate. So much for all of you nuts that said the Diebold voting machines would insure the Republicans would win.

Carry on.

We did not use diebold machines here, ours also have a paper trail that is visually checked and confirmed by the voter before the confirm ballot button is cast.

Now arnt you dead or something?

Regardless, there needs to be a receipt system and paper trail on ALL machines in all districts. It's a basic right to have your vote be available for recount. That goes for democrats, republicans, green, independent, martian party or anyone else.

Anyone who doesn't want a paper trail is a retard.

Well, even if they COULD fix the vote I don't think they would use it for this elections. Its peanuts considering Dubya only has 2 more years left and everybody is already pissed. I don't think diebold itself could rig the election but its obvious alot of these machines are about as secure as a copy of windows 98. At any rate I should be able to get a "recipt" for my vote to make sure the voting machine worked properly.

Absolutely. In any election, in any year, in any state, your vote should be available for recount on something other than a machine. It's ridiculous that anyone would trust software or computer equipment to never break down or have any sort of error. How many computers have you ever had that didn't have bugs and errors?

Oh btw, sorry your heroes lost yesterday Theking. I know you religious neo-con nutbags are going apeshit because someone stopped god's will. Just remember, sometimes the devil wins.

That secure??

True.. they are not secure and lack any form of audit trail which is amazing stuff.

I've never coded any software (stuff for commercial or money transactions) that never had an set of files which could be used to audit every action - and it's pretty damned obvious if that has been tampered with. To skip that minor point in stuff like voting machines is a complete joke.

Which process are you referring to? Receipts? If you are talking about vote counting, please enlighten us.

There will be nothing to recount. Last year there was a discrepancy and the challenger who asked for a recount only gained 27 net votes after the recount. That's the problem. Too bad for George Allen, but he's not going to get back 8K votes with a recount. He's avoiding the inevitable at this point. With a paper recount, however, who knows what would have happened. Snakebit by their own system.

Yes, if there are paper receipts or paper ballots, they are recounted, by hand, by election officials and recertified. Sometimes it can take quite a while, but it's really the only other option we have at this point. It sure as hell beats nothing...which is where we stand at a lot of polls right now.

The companies manufacturing those voting machines should come up with a computer that just picks a winner.

Its obvious the majority of Americans can't make an intelligent decision anyway.

Although I suppose the cheaper and more efficient way would be just to flip a coin... lol.

Well if that is the case, I apologize and retract that statement. Sorry to lump you in that category if it isn't where you actually stood. Just seemed like some of your past posts leaned that direction quite a bit.

The only way to audit an election is by paper? That seems a little narrow minded, especially when we are in a business that is so heavily enmeshed in technology.

Theres a good time to pull a scam and a bad time . this would be a bad time..

I havent seen any evidence to suggest any election was rigged , but is it possible and has it been done in other cases , yup..

If you try and trick too many people you end up with anarchy and we cant afford that.

This is the perfect time for the repub's to sit back and say " we fucked it up , good luck fixing it " they will stay quiet for a bit regroup , blame everything on the dems, and fix the next election if it doesnt go their way If they tried to do it now people would revolt.
