i just got a new computer for my girlfriend but when installing the updates for XP 14 of them failed. why would this happen? how can i install them succuessfully? i tried searching online but didn't come up with much.

Do you have a firewall? disable and try again

as mentioned it could be a firewall . if you have mcaffee firewall it might do that

mcafee is HORRIBLE about that shit, if you have that

uninstall mcafee ASAP, it will give you nothing but trouble

no mcaffe on the computer but i figured it out. for whatever reason when i changed the setting in automatic updates to update automatically instead of downloading auto and choosing when to install, the updates installed.
