Need advise! Sign up price $29.99 or $14.95

Please give me your advise on sign up prices.

When I started my toon site I charged $14.95 with no trial.
Since then similar sites have come out and all seem to be charging
$14.95 also.

My price now is $29.99 with no trial. So I am basically the most expensive in this small niche of sites.

Maybe sign ups would be more with the lower price but I don't really know.
In fact I think it would not make a differrence. Even if sign ups increased the affiliate would still have to make double the sign ups to get the same pay check.

So the questions for me are

1. Do affiliates want a lower price because they think they will get more sign ups?

2. Should my sign up price be lowered just for the sake of being competitive with the other sites out there?

3. Should I stick with the higher price because some affiliates think they will make more money?

I personally feel that we all make more with the higher price but let me hear your opinion.

Thanks

all depends on what is inside the sites. And there is a whole range of possibilities between 14,95 and 29,95.

The prices between 14 and 29 are not worth considering.
I either charge what I think should be paid($29.99) or I match the price that is the most common for my type of site($14.95)

My gut feeling is that porn is price-insensitive, to a point. It's mostly an impulse purchase, so price really doesn't matter.

But, the only way you're going to find out for sure is to experiment with different price points, and see what gives you the highest profit (my guess is $29.95 will).

I did the trial thing and no trials makes the most money because they get the most rebills. Letting surfers in the site for cheap just encourages them to "race" thru the site and quit to try and save money. They don't really enjoy the experience by racing thru the site like people who can take their time over a month.

That's what I think also.
Some surfers might look at a site with a $9.99 sign up and think
"At this price this site can't be worth a shit".

what the hell man, open a 'premium' section that costs $29.99 and keep a 'standard' section at $14.95. Do them on different domains if you want.

Ok my 2 bob on the matter.

1. As an affiliate cheap monthly joins make me jack shite on a 50% rev platform, on that perspective I'd rather push a higher join price.

2. As you said you are in a small niche. I'd not lower myself to compete with others, I'd stick to my guns and make my own price points. End of the if you're making money with the higher price point, I'd see no reason to lower it. All you'd be doing is cutting your bottom line.

3. Yes. Not many affiliates would be happy pushing a 50% rev program on a $15 monthly join price. If you pay all the fees that's $7.50 a join. Now for me to push a site paying me that, each join would have to rebill at least 2-3+ months to match other site/s earnings.

I also agree some surfers see a price point as a reflection of the quality content of a members area. A higher one working more in your favour, go figure.

I also agree surfers that take trials over full price monthly joins, rebill less in my experiance, then surfers that take the full join price point from the get go.

on the other hand he can think "hmmm only 9.99? what d I have to lose?" signs up, likes your site and thinks "well it's only 9,99 so I keep my membership running"

While at 29,95 he might think "hmm thats almost double of what the other sites cost... let's see how different this site is compared to the cheaper ones" signs up and makes his conclusion. Now how sure are you your site is worth twice as much as most other similar sites on the net? Will the surfer say "hell yes I like this so much that I'm gonna keep this membership and never join another site again" or will he think "hmmm for that price I can get a membership at site xxx AND zzz"?

There is a reason you are sucessfull. That is brilliant. I never thought of it.
I probably will not do it because I have affiliates and the one pushing the premium site price will probably feel like switching because they think they are being "under cut".

Thanks for taking time to give that advise. I think exactly as you do.
I got my opinions from my experience promoting other sites and it seems you have the same experience.

the higher price the better, for all parties

quality is what counts.

dont tell them how cheap it is
