whats the point of Invite only Programs?

Is it a way to build anticipation kind of like making people wait outside of a club even if it?s empty?

I just don?t get it.

To keep the 1 sale a month idiots away? The ones that request 30 different things from an affiliate rep, yet manage to send maybe 200 hits.

We went to invite only because we want to decide who we do or don't business with and be able to focus on helping those who are serious about making money with our program...

I would guess so they don't oversaturate their content. Plus it's probably a good way for new/small programs to get their feet wet. Gives them a chance to work out bugs and figure out processes.

that's one angle anyways

we are semi-invite only.

we run our own merchant accounts and want to keep the flow of webmasters to people we know.

That being said, we only really want to have a conversation with webmasters before giving them free reign to push our sites.

who do you consider serious? I've been trying to get a traffic trade with you guys for a year now and still have had no luck. I have also contacted you guys about 10 times. I even sent traffic to show I was serious.

I can see that benefit during a beta launch

Most programs that go invite only don't do it for very long. There are some that have and continue to, but for the most part, eventually you need to keep bringing in new affiliates to grow.

there was always a level of fraud in this industry as far back as I can remember. Build a better fraud detection system

I agree we get about 3-5 new webmasters signing up a day. about 10% actually do something. How do you know who is for real or not..

thats why we are wide open and have the fraud tools in place

I will tell you why I do it.

1. It keeps costs down on my end. I have to spend a lot less time with people who expect me to do everything for them and them just put up links and reap the rewards. This way I can pass those resources into making the site the best it can be.
2. Bigger market share for those affiliates allowed to participate. This translates into bigger checks for those affiliates.
3. Less competition for those same affiliates. They have an easier time getting listed. Make more from partner accounts and paid listings. Have an easier time for SEO purposes.
4. I get to know almost all of the affiliates which makes me more comfortable.
5. I get a lot less fraud all together.
6. Not about to lie, exclusivity pushes sales and draws in the bigger senders or more interest. Think about how many times you may have seen a thread that is something like "does xyz.com have an affiliate program?"
7. With current and future 2257 issues and the like, the less affiliates the better. That way I can assist in making each fully compliant.

Screen fraud and keep the low volume webmasters out.
