The google webmster board is full of people bitching about it. Lots of people that had 100's of thier pages listed and then put the sitemap up and they all went away

Its the best way to let google know about your sites and all pages on it. I love this.

Yea...scary thing...but then I've heard of great success and awesome robot awesome robot action from them...

I sort of scared to upload this 20,000 URL xml file. heh.

I am on many other bigger webmaster boards, no one seems to be complaining like this. May be some co-incident. I got more and more pages indexed after its use.

GSiteCrawler takes fucking 30+ minutes to export 20,000 url xml project to a file...jesus...not even worth it...i shouldn't even have saved and just generated a goog xml and yahoo urlist...this sucks...

dont expect to get your pages indexed just because you put them in a sitemap
if you don't have proper linking and enough back links to sustain a 20k site
the sitemap will only do you harm.

PR wont help you if all your back links point to the mainpage

when i had sitemaps up i still wasn't even getting a complete crawl. i took my sitemaps down about six months ago and since then i have improved my rankings and i have more pages indexed.
