The main lessons I got from listening to Donald Trump:

#1. Love what you do. "I never take a vacation, simply because I love doing what I do. Why would I want to avoid doing something I love?"

#2. Never ever quit. No matter how many times something fails, no matter how hard it gets. Never quit. And if you're following #1, you shouldn't want to!

#3. The harder I work, the luckier I get. Yes, luck is just one of those things that happens. You can try to deny it, but some people just get hurt more than others sometimes. But you can control it to a point. Work hard and learn as much as you can and you'll just get luckier at it.

#4. Get even BIG. If someone hits you, hit back harder. Don't take crap from anyone. Once someone walks all over you, and you let it happen, everyone else will see that they can do it too.

#5. Momentum. Know when it's your time. Even the smartest, best, most successful people eventually hit their peak and start going downwards... whether it's a change in markets, age, enthusiasm... what ever... if you lose your momentum, don't let it take you under. Do something, even if it's retiring.

#6. Always have a pre-nup. It's the most unromantic thing in the world to say to the person you want to be with forever, but it has to be done. Too many business people lose everything because it just doesn't work out. No matter how great they are/were at business.

#7. To be a winner, you have to think like a winner. But remember, the difference between being a braggart/show boater and just being honest is that you have to bring it. If you can win every fight, and tell people that.... are you bragging or telling the truth? Be confident and brag.... and know you can do it. And do it.

There are plenty of lessons to draw from that guy, but they have little to do with getting rich. For example: "it's not hard to make people believe you're richer than you are", or "people will pay to listen to you when you pretend you're rich". Or how about "that reminds me I have to visit the barber tomorrow"?

no vacation? of course! His life is a permanent vacation. I dont mean that he doesnt work, I mean that his lifestyle is so plush, that it has to feel like a vacation. Why would you want to rest from that?

hehe, and who didn't know those points already?

I might have paid $50 to see if his hair is really that bad in real life, but not to hear him talk. I find "The Donald" to be full of hot air...

Is it true that StuartD has started sporting a comb over?

I would have thought the most important lesson coming from Trump is to have rich parents.

I'm not a barber or beautician or anything, but I'd have to assume that my hair would have to be longer than 3mm to comb it over. But I can give it a try if you want.

Yeah, because he would have no clue on how to get rich, he is only worth over 2 billion.

He is worth way more than Oprah and I am sure you think she is loaded.

Number four is my favorite out of the points listed:
#4. Get even BIG. If someone hits you, hit back harder. Don't take crap from anyone. Once someone walks all over you, and you let it happen, everyone else will see that they can do it too.

Loryn: It's Trump's business to pretend he's rich, since that's how he makes money. Himself, and 'success' are his brand and product. He's constantly selling himself.

The guy pretends he doesn't know how many billions he has. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't even a billionaire.

I think he's a pathetic person. I sometimes wonder what makes me care about it - I think there's something about these people that really annoys me, it hits my nerves. Perhaps there are psychological theories about it.

Ah, you're confusing paying for everything himself with being smart enough to know how to get things without having to be out of pocket for them.

The question should be, does he work the system to get a building for practically nothing out of his pocket and then turn around and make millions on it later?

Don't confuse smart business with not being wealthy. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find any billionaire actually going out and buying properties with cash out of their own pockets.

"On Nov 2, 1992, the Trump Plaza Hotel was forced to file a prepackaged Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection plan after being unable to make its debt payments. "

He never claimed bankruptcy, he did on the building. When the world fell apart and everyone around him went under, he continued working with his "survive till 95" plan and climbed back out from being BILLIONS in debt. And went up several billion in the process.

Can you do that?

Rhesus you must be mental, the guy owns more real estate in NY then you could fathom, golf courses, Atlantic City casinos, hotels etc. It probally annoys you and others people can only imagine what it would be like to live his lifestyle. Seen his wife, she is the smokin hot.

Trumps been the man since the early 80's and he is bigger then ever.

The only thing i dont like about him is his face on the water bottles when I stay at one of his places.

I have no doubt the guy is wealthy. I have strong doubts as to the extent to which he is wealthy.

The way the guy reacts to things that happen in the media that he feels threaten his reputation is just plain pathetic. The guy is a self-centered, arrogant, socially and emotionally poor person with cluster b personality disorder traits.

I'm under the impression that you're just bitter for some reason, and it's most likely jealousy. And that would be truly pathetic.

To hate someone you don't even know and not even know why... why waste the energy?

I mentioned above that indeed I notice it's strange that I care about someone who I think is an idiot, and I wonder why. I'm not jealous as far as I'm aware of.

I feel sympathetic towards most people, but there are some I know I will never like, almost on the first sight. I am still contemplating why that is. At least this is strongly true for Trump.

A person like Richard Branson has the opposite effect on me, he comes across as an admirable person. So is it jealousy?

He inherited a major NY construction firm from his daddy. I've read a bio He's certainly not a self-made man, just a spoiled rat flaunting his wealth while thousands of workers have been fired in his casinos because of all the junk debt he took on to build them and also his bad management.

Well despite the sarcasm you're right, the guy does have no clue how to get rich. Unless of course he were to put on a seminar on being born into a rich family.

I really hate the respect the guy gets considering how abysmal his business track record is.

I got all that same advice, but for free from my grandfather. "never give up, work hard, think like a winner" This is all fairly common.

I am guessing Trump got it for free along the way too. Or maybe he just read napolean Hill like the rest of us ;)

Props to him for being able to sell people motivation, but you can get all that "never give up" stuff from any motivational books or speakers.

Nice points. I'm sure it was well worth the money to see the speech!
