Are there any cool fish you can put in a tank without a heater? I have this tank that hangs on the wall but I only have two plugs behind it, one for the light and one for the pump.

Someone told me I am basically stuck with gold fish because all the cool looking fish require a heated tank.

Koi are the way to go. Those white ones of mine just require room temperature.

The largest koi is like 4 years old now.

the advice I've had:

-frequent water changes
-scrape walls
-less light

-and I am now trying some "anti algae" drops. But I am TOTALLY open to advice!

I'm waiting for the money to build one into a wall, must be all the james bond movies. I thought fish don't have feelings so what does it matter what you do with them?

It's a wall hanging tank, similar to these:

http://www.wallaquariums.com/Gallery.htm

I had the electrician put in two clock receptacles behind the tank. (the kind that are recessed in order to accommodate a power plug from a flush mount clock). Unfortunately there is not enough room behind the tank to have any sort of power bar, which is why I had to use the clock style receptacles in the first place.

Koi look cool though, I will try to pick some of those up.

all of that works to some extent, but you had alot of suspended algae in the water, which is why the water itself looked green.

Try an undergravel filter and one of these:
http://www.ecoaqualizer.com/products.htm

My water has a slight greenish tint because of the way the lights diffuse thru the plants at the top of my tank. I'd say about 70% of the top of my tank is covered with plants. If I move all of that, the water appears crystal clear.

I have not cleaned my tank in 3 years, and my fish are very healthy.

One thing to take note of though, try to keep direct sunlight from hitting your tank or you'll probably never win the algae war.

haha, I have a couple of escaped feeder fish in my turtle tank. They outgrew the size of the turtle's mouth before he ate them, and now they just swim around like they own the place. I miss having a fish-only tank though.
