Motorcycles...

OK, I'm going to get a new bike in the very near future! Although I haven't decided if I'm going to get a sport bike or a cruiser. Although I'm leaning towards a sport bike, a Harley FatBoy would be nice too... Any opinions?

Just get a soft seat and stuff a pillow in the front of your jacket for long rides if you got a sport bike. That tank gets fuckin hard on the chest after 15 hours.

Typical loser bike. Slow as shit, less HP than a riding lawnmower, cylinders overheat in traffic jams, frequent oil leaks, overpriced & only 12 mo. warranty.

although i think a sports bike will be more fun and exciting to ride, I would rather get a cruiser. It jus looks much better and a lot safer to ride

I have a cruiser right now. Just a beater starter bike but i plan on buying a new bike next summer. After i get a nice Cruiser then I'm looking to get a Sport bike. I love the look of the Ducati Monster .. the naked bike just looks better to me. why cover all the Machining with plastic.

I already have a GSX-R 750, but it has a cage on it cause it's my stunt bike. I like to joy ride and go touring too. Maybe I should buy both a sport bike and a cruiser.

Sport bike(PIC of Mine)

Absolutely go with the sport bike....welllll. wait a minute, how ld are you and what's your plan with the bike, to ride or cruise? Harley's are expensive and are pretty high maintenance, sport bikes are much more affordable, and everyone works on them cheap......are you an exp. rider or is this your first bike? If this is your first bike, start on something like a 600-700 just so you get used to the power and move up from there, they hold their value well, so selling and upgrading will be easy. Here's mine:

Yup piece of shit, and they dont hold their value at all. Its weird my 77' Shovelhead is worth more now then when it was sold new, go figure. Or how about my 99 Lowrider that has 56k miles on it and doesnt leak a drop of oil and has 100 hp at the rear wheel.

But as she said, all Harleys are slow pieces of shit that leak oil.

Harleys are bigger and harder to turn but in my opinion always look better than any sportbike. However I am a sportbike fan and since I am still young I would say go for a sportbike such as a Honda CBR1000RR or a GSXR1000 if you can handle it. You should get a Harley if you have the money to afford it.

I'm an experienced rider and have been riding since I was 16 so for 9 years now. But I started riding Dirt bikes when I was 10, so needless to say I've been riding for some time. I still can't decide which direction I want to go. But it seems as if the word around the camp fire is I'm too young to ride a cruiser and should stick with buying a sport bike!

Check the insurance on the bike before you buy one, it might change your mind. One of my buddies is paying $2500 a year for his sportbike and he is a experienced rider (but thats in NJ)

Yep, you are correct. As cnn and other news outlets have reported - Harley's keep there value more then any other bike.

I see 5-10 yr old hogs sell more as much as new or more locally all the time...

Just my opinion based on my own experiences, but I rode through most of the 80's on various bikes. I had no use for crotch rockets at all. Give me a nice low-slung cruising bike with a fat rear tire and a step seat any day. Back before helmet laws came into effect there was nothing in the world so fine as sitting back and snuggling your head in between a nice big soft pare of tits while taking a long cruise up the highway to the beach or to nowhere at all.

Feet up on the pegs.

ahhh

And that "slow cruiser" I owned did a 1/4 mile in 13 seconds. Then there was the V 65 Magna that was much faster even. On my old Virago I wound it up to 185 km/hr on a desolate stretch of open road, that was plenty speedy for me. Just how fast does a person need to go? These sport bikes doing over 240 km/hr are death machines as far as I'm concerned.

Nope, nothing like a long tour on a cruiser. You can change riding positions and be more comfortable for longer periods. And today's Harleys certainly aren't the leaky clunky things some people would make them out to be.

Ah I miss my old riding days.

We pay less than $1300 a year for both bikes (GSX-R 1000 & 600) together with full coverage.

IMHO Harley's are far from a losers bike mainly because of the premium placed on their price tag because with anything Harley you are buying into a concept/status/cult symbol type machine rather than just a motorcycle. - LOL, losers just can't afford em.

IMHO, the big Honda Cruisers, ( appart from the Valkerie - it's a fucking death-trap cornering at high'ish speeds ), put them well into the shade in most aspects other than choice of paint finishes.

My personal fave is the Honda 1100 Shadow Sabre - very good bike for the money

PS - never ever buy a Harley 883 sportster. I know two people who have owned one and they both say they were the most unreliable bike they ever owned.

I think I pay 387.00 per yr for my hog with a coverage amount of 30k - one good thing about harley davidson insurance and there partners is that they will cover your add-ons, custom things, chrome, etc.

If you want something fun and that will eat up any other bike around in the corners, try a SuperMoto!

The closest thing to one of those crotch rockets that I ever liked was the Vmax, which first came out in '85.

That thing was a brute. 10 second 1/4 mile, huge fatty for a rear tire, 1200 v-4, all muscle.

it is the pitbull of motorcycles.

Find me an original Vmax 1200 V4 in the US and I'll find you 100+ buyers for it in the UK - no joke.
