Goin' Back To College.... Learnin' to make movies...

I don't mind education but goin' back to school at my age is a challenge.

Gotta go back to study latest film techniques. Lotsa good intensive programs around the world but my sights are for U.S. and Canada.

Not cheap as it'll cost around $50k to do a year.

Gotta do scheduling with work as well. Anybody ever go back to school as an adult? Know the ins and outs of financial aid/scholarships?

Reason I have to go back to school is because this year proved that comic books again are a moneymaker for Hollywood. Normally every year I get two or three options from film companies for comic books I've done. It's like money for sitting on your ass. This time however I figure to instead wait for these knuckleheaded execs to move their asses to do the job myself.

I know I'm on the right track because again I get these solicitations to 'represent me' and what I often get is they'll take my stuff, shop it around Hollywood in order to get 'their' shit through the door. Been going on for 15 years now. Gotta take the bull by the horns I say.

education should be lifelong... ever wonder why people seem dumber as they get older? Why a show like are you smarter than a 5th grader actually works?

Good luck to ya .... it's for a good cause

Depends on what part of the flim industry you want to study ... Ryerson in Toronto has a good program for film, writing and adaptation , so does Concordia in Montreal .. however concordia is a much hard university to get into then Ryerson.

For technical, I'd stick with colleges. Colleges tend to have more intense Broadcast and film techincal courses, usually have the lastest equipment when compared to Universities.

UCLA is also a top school for writing/adaptations. as is NYU

Good luck to you

Thanks gang.

What I've found is the hungriest film makers out here are the ones that spent like six years in college. To make movies doesn't take that long. It isn't that difficult. The only thing that takes long is the social bullshit that goes along with it. All the big headed theories about how things and why things instead of "Hey, know your tools, know your rules, go tell a story!".

I'm going for the condensed stuff because I already know how to write and edit and storyboard etc. Just need to know my tules and floor rules. Nowadays the digital cameras that only cost a few thousand dollars are as good as the high end studio stuff. I met a guy who wasted four years in college and didn't go anywhere. Went to a condensed course, bought a $4k camera and then went on to multiple awards with music videos and documentaries.
