Python.com Owes Me $5,000 via GFY Contest - Haven't Seen It Yet, What Should I Do? =[

Contest Thread: http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/711840-python-dollarmachine-deal-deal-unlimited-cash.html
Contest Winners: http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/721529-python-dollarmachine-deal-deal-winners.html

First of all, in no way am I trying to slander/degrade Python/DollarMachine or Stephen, but I just can't help but think I'm getting the complete "run-around" on this whole thing.

I won the contest fair and square, he requested my address which I happily sent out that day and now a month later and various emails between myself and Stephen I still haven't seen anything. At first it was "The check will be sent out this week". ...Nothing. Then it was, "Don't worry, it's going out this coming Monday." ....Nothing. Then it's "Well, the Marketing section is being weird because you're a new afilliate..."

I just don't know what to do about this... Stephen is seemingly so polite in his emails about things and yet I still haven't seen a dime.

I even called today to be put in touch with Marketing and was told they only had an answering machine and when I asked to be put in touch with Stephen the lady told me he was "out of town until Thursday."

I'm only making a thread about it because I've seen others posts like this in the past and usually someone knows someone else in the company that eventually helps the person out... that's all I'm looking for here... some advice or help.

The money they owe me was going to be used to open up a new network of TGPs/Blogs which would have driven even more traffic to Python in the long run anyways.

i think you should exercise some professional courtesy in handling this. Python has an excellent reputation regarding payments fyi.

I think I have been more than patient and certainly VERY polite with every email I've sent to them regarding this matter. Trust me, I'm a very level headed person. From what I've heard and seen from Python's post on this board alone... they seem to be very stand up individuals with great business practice. Regardless, I still have a situation which they clearly stated would be taken care of "over the weekend" after the contest ended and here I am posting this as a last resort. I completely apologize if this post comes off somewhat tacky, but once again, let me clarify that in no way am I slandering them... just looking for someone to help me out here.

I think he has, that's not exactly $5 were talking about and it seems like he's done his diligence in trying to contact Python to sort it out.

I had an issue with a company about a contest awhile back and it was 8 months before the "stand up" company finally did something about it - only after I posted to a board.

Sorry sir, but have you not read a single bit of my post? I called their toll free number today as stated in the first post. With all due respect, I really don't think I should HAVE to call them in the first place, but nonetheless if that's the route I have to take, then sobeit... and it got me nowhere, unless I try again this Thursday.

To Jayvis and the other contest winners from our previous promo "Deal or NO Deal":

On behalf of Dollarmansteve (in his absence) and the Python crew all payments for this promo were processed today. If your payment is via epass you'll see your winnings in your account Wednesday of this week. If you receive your payments via check then it will come in the mail as usual but I assure you was sent out today.

Our apologies for the delay. The problem was in our account department not marketing, but none the less we apologize.

Should you have any further questions between now and Thursday when Steve returns, feel free to contact me chelseyATpython.com.

I know they are a good program and always pay. No risk of being scammed here... but one thing I don't understand. It's like 20 transactions with epassporte. It takes 5-10 minutes maximum to send them out. Why wait till wednesday when it's already late? It just makes the webmasters less likely to send traffic. To most webmasters quick and reliable payouts is the most important part when selecting a sponsor. And isn't the purpose of all these contest to get new webmasters?

Accounting error that took a month to straighten out???.....

I'm amazed how companies always have these "errors/upgrading our systems/migrating/etc" then it comes here to GFY court and all is well with the person owned and Mr Stand up guy.

Fucking amazing.

And thank you to Chelsey for the quick reply here, I truly appreciate it. Like I said, Python is obviously a great company and I'm super happy this is all better now. Thanks again, guys.

Thanks Chelsey!

I even called today to be put in touch with Marketing and was told they only had an answering machine and when I asked to be put in touch with Stephen the lady told me he was "out of town until Thursday."

Heyyy man,

First off yes I am indeed away on vacation and not back in the office until Thursday - but I always make time to keep up with what's happening.

Secondly - my politeness and sincerity is definitely genuine - anyone who knows me and works with me can attest to this fact.

Thirdly, Let me say that it has been frustrating and stressful for me the last couple months running these promos, and I will tell you why. I took over the Marketing department last November - a position that was run 'by-committee' for several years. Since that time I have introduced an entirely new marketing and promotional program - with one component being aggressive monthly board promotions.

As you may or may not know, we are a very large company with offices in a couple different continents and hundreds of employees worldwide. The Python and Dollarmachine programs are just two of the programs that we are responsible for. The accounting department is particularly busy - they handle literally thousands of webmaster payments every single week for dozens of companies.

It has been an adjustment for them to meet the cash-flow demands that I impose on top of webmaster payouts. The reality is that webmaster payouts for sign-ups take priority over all other payments, and for the past month or so because of the growth of several of our brands, we have had a very large increase in webmaster payouts.

It has been frustrating for me because obviously I have obligations to the people who participate in our promotions - on the other hand, the reason I run promotions and market the brands is to increase our daily sign-ups. So, somewhat ironically, the success of the marketing efforts has led to the problems I am having in meeting the promotional obligations in a timely manner.

My goal is to make each promotion better than the last by improving in the areas where I was deifcient. Going forward, my 'exit strategy' will be more thoroughly coordinated with the accounting department to lessen the delay in paying out the winners.

In closing let me say that I apparently have horrible timing when it comes to vacations Also, let me reassure you again that there is a 100% probability of you being paid your winnings - please bear with me - I have no doubt in the fact that we will work together in the future and that is not a factor in the delay.

To anyone out there who is waiting on promo winnings from us - please accept my personal apology, and know that I am working on getting that cash in your hands as soon as I possibly can.

I believe business accounts take a bit longer than 5-10 mins to send out payments.

Okay...it's Wednesday (again) and being on the East Coast means there's less than 7.5 hours left in the day (and counting down) to get those winnings "on Wednesday" (by my time) as we were told.

I hope these "still waiting on my winnings" posts/threads will stop today.
*Fingers crossed*

i mean it takes like 5-10 mins to send this out via epass. I'm pretty sure they keep their promise since there would be no excuse not paying today.

They are good, I'm sure we will all be paid today. Thanks again python for the contest =)

Another company to avoid.

1 month is way to long.

Thanks for bringing it to the boards.

I read posts like this and I say to myself "Another webmaster to avoid, anyone who makes business decisions based on a GFY thread is not someone worth doing business with". It works both ways.

Obviously you didn't even bother to read the thread and our replies and have absolutely no clue as to what 'company' we actually are.

Its just stupid when companies make a contest and then aren't carefull about paying the prizes, they get the opposite effect of what they were aiming at

I just talked to Steve.

He personally sent me $100 extra for the delays + I will get the normal epass when they can go out.

Might have taken a bit long with these contest but read his reply above. You will all be paid. This is not some new company started a few days ago... they´ve been in business for 10 years!

To be honest I first missed his reply in this post. So people please we will all be paid really soon for this contest. Read what he posted.

Jayvis don't worry, you will be paid for 100% sure. Trust me....
your check is on the way.

So basically Python is a multinational corporation with hundreds of employees but doesn't have $6000 to spare. That's a pretty tight cash flow and why hold a contest when you don't have the money on hand to pay out?

Thanks man. I thought I was crystal clear to everyone in my post above, but I know alot of GFYers prefer 'coles notes' versions.

The funny part about all of this is that in the end, every will get their money, even with our company's name having been dragged through the mud. I've explained why there was a delay and can only hope that people are understanding.

For the most part, the money we give away is in return for absolutely nothing - it's a lottery, it's money that the people didn't have to do anything to earn.

I have administered several promotions on this board and we have ALWAYS been good for the money and/or prizes, this year alone we have given away:

$10,000 in cash at Internext Vegas
$1000 in a photoshop contest
4 Xbox360 premium systems
$1000 to one team for beating team Python at Gears of War...
Hundreds of promotional T-shirts at shows

$15,000 in prizes in the past few months, and when the Deal or No Deal promo payouts are all taken care of, that will tack on another $10,000 or so.

So that's $25,000 in cash and prizes given away in the past 4 months.

I don't even know where to being in responding to this post. How about this - when your company has a couple hundred employees and is doing one transaction per minute 24 hours a day, you lemme know.

Minus the $5k for poster starting the thread.........

Again, Fucking amazing how people roll at times with their twisted sense of logic as they boast about all this that and the other thing they did *EXCEPT* this 1 payment to 1 webmaster that won 1 contest on 1 board.

How comes one of the hundreds of empolyees couldnt have jumped in here to take care of this?

The $5k check went out monday. He should have it soon.

I feel it's a bit unfair to Python. Yes sure payments are a bit late, but then again they are easy to get hold of them when haveing a question (ICQ or email) They don't try to scam anyone here, and they have fully explained the situation.

This is a good company.

SENT OUT TODAY??

See, this is the ONLY thing that upsets me. Please don't tell me it was sent out today if it obviously wasn't!! Just tell me when it's sent out, don't try and cover things with something like this, it just gets my hopes up.

I'll be making a thread singing Python praises the second my check comes in, but until then...

Blahhh

I did take care of it, read the fucking thread. I'm the director of marketing, I claimed responsiblity and I am accountable.

What is fucking amazing is that you can stroll in here, not even read the thread and start running your mouth - that is what is fucking amazing pal.
