Does anyone have Archos 504?
http://www.amazon.com/Archos-Portabl...6942737&sr=8-1
A guy on the plane today had one - you can copy DVDs to it, music (not that big an issue for me) AND use it as a portable DVR. I'm leaving for hours and hours of plane rides in the next week so I ordered one FedEx (with an additional battery since he said it only lasts about 4 hours). The picture was AWESOME. Does anyone have one? It looks like the perfect option to having to watch a dumb movie on the plane. I have TV shows out the ying yang I can copy to it as well as Netflix movies I haven't had time to watch for the next week before I leave ![]() But if it's not what it SEEMS to be, I want to send it back before I go ![]() |

Looks a little big for music purposes, but for movies it looks pretty nice. Almost a must-have for someone who travels a lot.
Over Christmas I sat next to a Yahoo developer and he had something similar. It looked really neat, I have no use for something like this but I could see how somebody would.

The gentleman who had it has only had it for a few weeks and said he was still learning things, but even long movies only took up a small portion of the memory. If no one tells me it's total shit and I send it back before I leave, I'll report back in a couple of weeks ![]() |

Damn, this thing rocks. Within 2 weeks of buying I took it on a trip to CA (with a layover in OH so it was very nice to have) and on the flight to London and back. The BEST use for it was in Ireland and London when there was freaking nothing on TV late at night - we are so spoiled with our 500 channels - and I could catch up on TV shows I had TiVo'd.
![]() I haven't figured out most of what I can do - been moving stuff from TiVo on to it only. And it's only recharging on the TV docking station for some reason. If you get it, get the extra battery. That was recommended to me and it IS a battery hog. Two thumbs up!! |
