RIAA fights back againts piracy by "spoofing"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2002Aug20.html
Here are some snippets: "Spoofs are typically nothing more than repetitive loops or snippets filled with crackle and hiss, and thousands are now unwittingly downloaded every day from file-sharing services, like Kazaa and Morpheus, that sprang up after Napster's demise." "The labels are also supporting a bill, now under consideration in Congress, that would make it legal to "impair the operation of peer-to-peer" networks, such as LimeWire. That could be done, for example, by overloading file-sharing services with so many requests that they slow to a crawl." Anyone wanna take bets on how long it takes before our friends the hackers figure out a way to check for file integrity before download? ![]() But what i really love is that they are making it legal to DoS file sharing site's. hahahaha!

By the way, if anyone is familiar with what a "spoof" is online...its nothing like what they are talking about.
I love it when multi-million dollar agencies go out & buy themselves a half-wit programmer that calls himself a hacker...And then the next day the RIAA thinks they are "spoofing" ![]() Porn spammers beat you guys to it. 2 Years ago i download a 5mb metallica song & it was a loop saying "please visit xxx.com im waiting for you". |

The RIAA is made of complete idiots! They have no clue what to do about file sharing. Their so called "spoofing" could help but they won't do it at the level they need to in order to make anyone care. This almost beats them trying to sue At&t and Cable & Wireless for allowing people to visit music pirating sites!
![]() Just so you know, the average record label president has little or nothing to do with the RIAA. The RIAA is kinda like a demented old uncle that you acknowledge but you don't speak to much because he's crazy. Strange but true. |

This sort of thing has been going on for ages. Over the last few months, a lot of new tracks are nothing more than chorus loops. It's fucking annoying.
