Good Interview with Ron Paul

http://www.nhpr.org/audio/audio/ex-2007-06-05.wax

Do you think his ideas are outdated, bizarre, or worth a try?

Questions for the Ron Paul fans: People like Ron advocate pulling American troops out of Iraq and everywhere else where they're stationed "promoting democracy". Would this really lead to better relations and less anagonism with those countries? Would Iraqies be happy with Americans leaving their country in ruins?

Also, if America doesn't keep an eye on the world, what's to stop rogue states from acquiring nuclear weapons and using them on us without us even being aware of the threat.

Lastly, when people speak of a completely free market unencumbered by government intervention, does that mean getting rid of things like the FDA and other regulatory bodies that supposedly ensure that the products we eat are safe etc.

I live in the Philippines and his ideas would definitely improve the economy here. There's too many politicians raising taxes, overregulating industry, and curtailing economic freedoms all in the name of the 'poor'. Meanwhile, billions are wasted through corruption and poverty sweeps the land. Ron Paul's ideas definitely resonate globally.....

I'm not a fan of this guy, actually don't even know who he is. However, I come from a place with a bit more history and understanding of foreign affairs than the US.

Take Swizerland. That place is surrounded by bigger, stronger neighbours. It's richer than them. Does it go bonkers building nuclear missiles and stretching itself thin trying to man bases in those larger neighbours ?

This notion that if you find yourself in a larger world you must necessarily antagonize everyone is really akin to a kid for the first time in a pool splashing madly.

The water doesn't care. Survival takes swimming. Americans, not just the cabinet, but americans in general, need to learn to swim.

I have watched the events of our world very closely in the last 6 months. I have in that time learned so much that I am now even more thankful than I was before that God is still in control because quite frankly us Americans are in deep shit. Spend 1 week reading what is before the Committee on oversight and government reform ( a .gov website) and read the patriot act and I guarantee you you will then look at every single thing happening in this world with a brand new view.

Ron Paul is our only chance and I am powerfully afraid that even if we could convince the media in this country to give him equal publicity, that no matter what we do he will not be given the chance to be president, at least not within the republican ticket. Matter of fact I would be willing to bet the farm on that. Ron Paul is the best canidate hands down.

I know what he has said and just because we pull our troops does not mean we don't watch other countries. The Usa must certainly watch every nation ... we are not automatically stupid at that point. I am sure the Swiss keep there eyes open too. It is common sense. But what he does say is that we should stop interfering in the business of others and of other cultures. Let them fight there own battles WITH IN REASON. And he believes we should build relationships with our neighbors instead of building lies and devastation. He has good ideals and practical thought. If Ron Paul voted against something that looks on the surface as a bad thing to have done...look a bit deeper because I guarantee you there was a good reason and more to it than what we understand on the surface.

RON PAUL HAS MY VOTE ... PLEASE GIVE HIM YOURS

By the way, he is totally against any censoring or government regulation of the internet whatsoever!! He said when asked by a reporter if he trusted the American members of the media... he said after thinking there are some that he did but not many. He said he gets most of what he needs via the internet not in our own newspapers. Its the only way to know what is really happening.

If you have the courage to look at what investigations are being done today by the commitee our constitution has established to govern on oversight your eyes will be very open to incredible facts ...not fiction about the extreme corruption at all levels in our highest governmental offices.

Education is a matter of public record and free of charge to any and all Americans... it is our right and our obligation to ask questions and demand answers... don't believe me ..please ... go see for yourselves http://oversight.house.gov/ your life and how you view democracy will forever be changed ... Ron Paul represents everything our Forefathers fought to give us... our freedom!

I like a lot of what he says, but I wonder about the free market. If there is no tariffs or protection for the American workers we could quickly see more of our jobs shipped overseas then we already do. I know there are companies that would want to keep jobs here, but if the market got flooded by cheap products that were able to come to this country without any barriers it would drive the cost down and American companies wouldn't be able to compete and still pay a livable wage. Our workers make more per hour (on average) than just about every country in the world and I could see that dropping fast if we took down any and all protection and fully opened up the country as a free market.
