Space Shuttle goes up and I've got pics.

I've been wanting to get some really good pics and video of a Shuttle launch but the last three times I've gone the launch has been scrubbed due to weather so this time I passed on the drive and as luck would have it the conditions were near picture perfect. I did manage to find a spot near my house which is about 50 miles from the launch pad and took this pic. Not nearly as exciting as being up close where you can hear it thunder and feel the ground rumble. I promise I'll do better next time.

damn I'd love to see it launch, even from 50 miles away

when the columbia exploded over texas, the sonic boom of the debris entering the atmosphere shook my house and alot of debris landed not far from where I lived at the time

I was doing some construction work on a highrise on Florida's gulf coast when Challenger blew up. It was a cool day and the sky was clear and blue. We stepped out onto a balconey to take a break and we could see the shuttles's trail. It went up for a ways and then forked into two trails. I remember saying " Oh, that can't be good ". We heard the news at luch time.

I watched quite a few Shuttle launches both day and night and they're very cool but nothing comes close to watching a Saturn Rocket launch. I was at the cape for the last Moon launch and the power that thing had is indescribable.

I was lucky enough to have a uncle whom worked at NASA's print shop. So he printed the passes to get on base for the launches. Needless to say I saw more than my fair share of launches.

I remember having to get up at 4am in the morning to then wait in lines of cars for hours, only to have the launch get scrubbed.

Great pic! It's on my to do list that's for sure.

I wonder if BV got it this time.

Here is his video from last year, one of my all time favorite videos, the music matches perfectly
