Harajuku is a Japanese clothing style which combines otherwise incompatible fashions in a jumble of colour and clothing.

Harajuku is the common name for the area around Harajuku Station on the Yamanote Line in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, Japan. Harajuku is an area between Shinjuku and Shibuya. Local landmarks include the headquarters of NHK, Meiji Shrine, and Yoyogi Park.

The streets were reopened to traffic in the 90s. Small groups of rockabillies and gosurori still gather on Sundays.

The Harajuke Girls are four young women who were hired to be back up dancers for Gwen Stefani in 2004. While they can speak English perfectly, they are forbidden to speak anything but Japanese while in public.

My daughter is a huge anime fan, and she made me take her to a few conventions where everyone dresses like anime characters (I think they call it cosplay). I have to admit I really started to get into it and I watch a couple of the series (Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist, Hellsing to name a few).

We saw a Travel Channel special about this park and she has wanted to go there ever since. We just might have to make that trip now...
