WMV -> FLV ( SWF ) Question

I need to convert WMV no quality loss to FLV or SWF, any good program to do that?
I used one and it's output is lesser quality then origimal WMV video. Any ideas?

No converter based on FFmpeg will give you the best quality, as FFmpeg supports only a very old FLV codec. You want VP6, which Flash 8, CS3, and CS4 support out of the box. Otherwise you'll need to get a cheap converter app from On2.

You don't mention what the bitrate is of your WMVs. To get equal quality you'll need to encode at about the same bitrate. If your WMVs have a high bitrate to start with that can be a problem, because FLVs are meant for streaming, and not everyone has 10 mbps connections.

You need to keep trying different settings until you get something that looks good to you. You WILL likely have to compromise some on quality in order to get a filesize and bitrate your users can handle.

Yeah, been thru this lately. Just found out that swf has to be about trhe same size as wmv to play around that quality.

streaming flv files at about 1500k per second is a pretty good number. You will have some pixelation and maybe an artifact or two, but it your movie file is say 300mb, your flv file at 1500kps will be about 100 mb.

I use Adobe Media Encoder CS4. One of the most important things with Flash videos is the keyframes. If you don't set your keyframes, then viewers can't fast forward through the videos. The player needs to know what the closest keyframe is to the point in the video you are fast forwarding to. So make sure whatever program you use has the ability to properly set these keyframes. I tried several programs before using Adobe Media Encoder CS4, and the Flash video player couldn't fast forward through the videos because these programs didn't set the keyframes properly.
