Robin Williams for President of the U.S.A.? Here's his Peace Plan. What do you think?

I just got this email from a friend and upon further investigation found out that in actuality the "Plan" has been around since 2003 with no one being credited for it. It does sound like a platform that the comedian might back though!

The Plan!

Robin Williams, wearing a shirt that says "I love New York " in Arabic.

You gotta love Robin Williams...
Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our U. N. Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Here's the Plan...

(Hard to argue with this logic!)

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace.

So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines -They don't want us there, anyway. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!

Third World France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) Th e U.S. will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while .

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need
it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN. Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' " - Robin Williams

If you agree with the above, forward it to friends...If not, and I would be amazed, DELETE it!

_______
That pretty much sums it up. What do you think?

Everyone who thinks this is a good plan doesnt know anything about how economy works. Why is american a rich country? Because your export is so much higher then the import. You need the rest of the world more then the rest of the world needs you. Same goes with all the other rich OECD countries.

If Robin Williams ever made any statement resembling anything in that "plan" - my faith in the human species dropped even lower.

He may be a comedian, but he's not insane

Anyone will a clue knows every well that the market price of oil is not dependent on the US and governed by world demand. There is already a shortage even if there was no demand from the US market. The rest of the quote is just too silly.

BTW.. You are correct in that all these "plans" which have appeared over time and attributed to people are fantasy. Mr Williams never did write any "plan" like that - amazing how much crap ends up on the net

Well.. there lies a major part of the problem Shakula The US does not export higher than it imports and that is the reason for massive trade deficits over at least three decades now - and the constantly increasing debt problem.

Sure, agree that should not be the case and it's not the same as all other OECD countries - they generally balance their books and have reasonable cred. This is reflected in currency exchange - and also illustrates why the US dollar is weak.

US manufacting industry is weak and, as a nation, is not in a postion to offer product at a competitive price to help the balance of payments. In reality, the US is a consuming nation and consuming beyond it's means and borrowing from others to sustain that level of consumption. "Rich" is relative

It's not just my - this pattern is not sustainable and the effects have probably started showing already. Time will tell.

Take a look at these figures from 2006 and tell me who demands most of the worlds oil supply.

http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/topworldtables3_4.html

You will notice that the U.S. consumes an average of 20,588,000 barrels a DAY which is about equal to the next FIVE countries... China, Japan, Russia, Germany and India COMBINED!

So I guess you could say that although the market price of oil is not solely dependent on the U.S that there is definitely a direct relationship with the U.S. demand and the world market price.

Sure.. would totally agree Jim. There would be a "shuffling" of oil prices if US consumption did not exist, tho overall, that slack is easily taken up elsewhere by other developing regions. It's not the current day supply which is the problem (tho there are already supply problems) - there is a growing shortage of locations where oil can be extracted at an economic price and that will dictate the long term price of oil.

When you look at your charts, they paint an even worse picture in that those imports of oil amount to around 50% of the trade deficit and equate to an oil usage exceeding prob all other nations quoted - and from a nation that only has 5% of world population. The problem is more related to the over-consumption of oil within the US which is causing serious financial damage to that economy and when that nation does not have a manufacturing base to utilize that resource to it's benefit - but, consuming just for the sake of consuming (ie on personal transport). All that achieves is more debt for the US as a country in some form or other.

Oil is causing damage to the US in the rate of consumption - the vendors of that oil will not suffer any great hardship. They will get whatever the market value is, based on demand/availability. I doubt they will reach the level of letting the wine cellar stock run too low

Ofcourse you are right, im just saying that no country will be rich if your export isnt bigger then the import. And ofcourse it can be bad a year, two years, even three years but ofcourse if it continues like this for the US you will end up being a poor country.

But why the US is rich is because the export has been so much higher then the import for so long. Ofcourse it will change, its impossible that most rich countries will be as rich as before (OECD countries) because production etc etc is moving to cheaper countries where the workers doesnt go on strike and stuff. Thats normal. Asia is the future.

Sure.. agree every country needs to trade externally and, at least have a level trade deficit or a positive balance if they want to remain economically sustainable.

Can't remember the exact year, but the year the US last had a positive trade balance was around 1968. How do you apply the acid test of measuring "rich" or poor in economic terms? By the amount of money each citizen (via the govt) is in debt? If that was the basis of measuring rich, the US would be one of the poorest nations on earth, - not because it has no assets, but simply because the debt level is beyond a forseeable repayment level.

The US is not alone on the shift of the economic powehouse to Asia - that affects almost every western industrialized country. But... where any western nation is not in a fit condition to absorb the impact of an economic shift - that is going to put severe pressure on it's economy and currency value. They will try trading deals with other nations in their region in an attempt to get cheap product for the currency offered in payment (this has already started in the form of CAFTA etc), but hard to match the league of Asia.

Agree... Asia is the future economic power region - the population in that region will be their own mass-market and anything left over can be exported. After Asia, the next candidate for economic power could be Russia - the natural resources, forgetting any industry, are enormous.
