Apparently Canadians are plugged in! Interesting report!

A huge marketshare to be sure, and growing quickly..:

Canadians continue to subscribe to the Internet and cable television in higher proportions, according to new numbers released from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) today.

The report found that 70 per cent of Canadian households subscribed to the Internet in 2006, a six per cent increase from 2005, and 60 per cent use high speed internet, up from 51 per cent in 2005.

The report revealed that 22 per cent of Canadians listened to radio over the Internet in 2006 and six per cent watched television. Advertising on the Internet almost doubled from 2005, totalling $1 billion in 2006.

After a few years of playing at Pogo I came to the conclusion that all of Canada's residents were utilizing the Internet for something.

haha Pogo.. I was stuck on that site for about a month way back

I got broadband the minute it came out in 1998 and haven't looked back since. Considering you can get a "lite" broadband package for $17 a month these days, there's no point to dialup.

I got the feeling that along with free medical, all Canadians got a membership to Pogo.

I get the feeling a broadband connection is almost useless in summer - I mean, anywhere ya go there's some wireless to use, or some corner-of-the shop internet stations - all you need is inspiration, and the nearest network access.

The only time the home connecton is useful in summer is when you have to wait for the laundry to be done :P

For the time, Rogers Wave was freaking great. For a while I was the only one on my segment so it was damn quick too.

Yeah, if you don't mind that everything you do is able to be seen by those who run the hotspots.

I was one of the first people to get cable internet in my town when it was available. I forget exactly when that was(1996 or so I think), but it was a very long time ago. Started off as 2mbps cable with a 2gig transfer cap. Later it went 3mbps with no cap for extra $. Than 5mbps no cap at all. Than 6mbps and now it's 16mbps for customers who have digital cable, phone and internet all bundled like I do.
