XBIZ News: Evil Angel Awarded $11.2 Million in Piracy Case

Evil Angel Awarded $11.2 Million in Piracy Case
By Steve Javors

LOS ANGELES ? After slightly more than a day of deliberations, a nine-member federal jury has awarded Evil Angel $11.2 million in its piracy and copyright infringement case against Canadian distributor Kaytel, principal Alain Elmaleh and Leisure Time Canada.

Jules Jordan, who was part of the Evil Angel lawsuit, was awarded slightly more than $5 million. Jordan, under his real name, also sued for violation of his right to publicity.

The jury determined that the defendants illegally pirated 31 Evil Angel movies and 13 movies from Jules Jordan, when he was a member of the Evil Angel directing roster. The maximum penalty for copyright infringement is $150,000 per title.

Lesson of the day. Dont deal with Canadian and dont give them access to your TGP admin, because they will remove your gallery's and replace them with their own.

Quoted for truth, at least the case shows that stealing content and giving a fuck about copyrights can have serious consequences...these fuckers can spend the rest of their ruined lives in serious debt.

of course they can collect in another country. i'm sure the defendants don't have 11 million and what they do have they have been disposing of in knowing this judgement was coming.

i hope they can get something meaningful money wise out of this. the defendant supposedly did make a sizeable settlement offer so there is money there it would seem.

Let online be next, get those torrent sites. Same thing they create distribution channels with unauthorized copies of content. I like those numbers, watch how fast the torrent sites dissapear once the first case ends like this.

XBIZ does not advertise on jam-hot. I don't know what gave you that idea, but it's pretty dumb.

And, the article had nothing to do with torrent sites, but piracy and copyright infringement...

Check your facts before making false accusations.

I think he means the "award" banners they have on their main page. And I agree it does look shady.
