Romanian Internet: Piracy at its WORST
Alright, so I live in Romania for the time being. And with all of the anti-piracy stuff going on I thought I would share just how much of a piracy positive country this is.
My internet is pretty stable 10mbps download with a 1mbps upload. However Romania has a metropolitan network. Basicly all the computers on the internet within the country transfer files at a steaming rate of 5MBps (bytes not bits for the record). With that being said about 95% of all Internet Service Providers not only hook your PC up to the P2P oDC software upon setup and installation, but also give you the log on information for the ISP's own personal media server for download. This transfer rate is at about 7MBps. It really is fucking crazy. Imagine downloading 700MB in about 3 minutes time. As far as piracy goes, this really does hurt content providers as well as mainstream movie productions and I am against how they are using it. However, if this technology is being utilized for illegal file sharing, why not put it to use for legal file sharing. It truly is incredible the transfer rates within the network. Something like this for legit file sharing should definitley be researched for use back home in the states. |
