Looking for a seasoned php4/5 programmer with web2.0 exp. ASAP!
Some stuff has come up and I don't feel like programming anymore. So, on that note I am looking for an exceptional php4/5 programmer willing to pick up where I left off.
You should have experience writing OO, tight, secure, fast code. You should have mysql experience as well experience optimizing indexes for your queries. Commenting of code would be an asset though it is not required. I am willing to pay though I think I can make you an more attractive offer than just paying you money. I would LOVE someone located in to Toronto to take this! |

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say by web 2.0 he means ajax.
As for why he wants OOP, god knows. I'm not a fan... Anyways, try calmdev. He knows ajax better then anyone i've met.

Do you even know what OOP stands for? I think that is one of the top 10 dumbest things I have ever seen anyone post here about programming... lol.
OOP = Object Oriented Programming What is it exactly?
That said... there are some pitfalls... Just like anything in life... too much of a good thing is bad. Any programmer should use the K.I.S.S. technique. ;) For the most part there is no need to make shit overcomplicated. A good example of that problem is Zend Framework. The idea started out good but it has been way overcomplicated... just like any other frameworks I find on the net. Too much garbage. |

web 2.0 isn't ajax. Ajax is a side effect of web 2.0.
web 2.0 = User community sites with the majority of the content contributed by the users. |

web 2.0 = tableless design, extensive CSS and elements of ajax that is largely community driven content
And I agree with the frameworks. I steer clear simply because they are just that, bloated. They're made to be universal and open to other programmers to add to. Well, like anything... they can get to be way more than what you need... and like anything else, they're open to the world to tinker and find holes in. Judging by the request, tight, secure and fast code means to be written by scratch, and having only the code necessary... not extra code that's not used. OOP is really the only way to go with such a project. Anything else wouldn't fit the "tight, fast, secure" profile. I really wish I could take on this project as it sounds like it would be a fun one but I'm fully booked as it is. |

It seems like OOP is almost a necessity if you are doing any real hardcore "Web 2.0" type stuff.

again... web. 2.0 is not a design pattern for development... it's purely a site type description. Alot of uninformed people get this confused.
Tableless design and CSS are design tools... not programming tools and are not bound to web 2.0. I can build a web 2.0 site with tables as well as CSS. I will grant that alot of web 2.0 sites use tabless designs and neutral colors... etc, etc. |
